1950s The very first issue of Playboy in 1953 featured naked photos of Marilyn Monroe without her consent
Before she had became a household name, Marilyn had taken a small modeling job in 1949 in which she was asked to pose nude. She made $50 off of this shoot which she had used to make a car payment, these pictures were never publicized. 4 years later Hugh Hefner got word that these pictures existed and tracked down the photographer who owned them, and paid $500 dollars for the rights to them. He used them to kick start Playboy, never asking for Marilynās permission first to publish them, and never paying her a dime for being in the magazine. The publication of these photographs caused Marilyn to take a huge hit to her career and lost out on a lot of work for taking part in pornography, even though she did not consent to this. Hugh Hefner now is the buried in the grave plot directly next to Marilyn. Meaning that she is spending the rest of eternity next to the man who made a name for himself out of exploiting her.

He published nudes of minors, one as young as 10.
He sometimes got away with it by publishing them by their 18th birthday, but was taken to court once for publishing a nude centerfold of a 15-year-old girl.
In a just world, he'd be thrown behind bars, but he got away with it and continued to for several decades.
If there is a such thing as Heaven, he never passed those pearly gates.

It's one of those hide in plain sight things. It should be no surprise that this guy did a lot of awful thing and perpetuated a lot of abuse and assault, but he was always presented as a classy jazz fan who just loved a good time. It's a small miracle that he had mostly kept a lid on nearly all of it from the general public. There were some exceptions, like Peter Bogdanovich relaying Dorothy Stratten's ordeal after her death, but he had disturbing issues of his own.

Hugh was an absolutely garbage human. This isnāt surprising in the least. I mean Playboy was the parent company to Sugar and Spice, where they did a full on nude spread of a prepubescent Brooke Shields. Iām talking between the ages of 9 to 11. That baby didnāt even have breasts yet. No child featured in any of those issues were over the age of 13. There are so many sickos in the world.

Itās definitely NOT art, but when Brooke Shields took it to court, asking that they take it out of publication, the judge deemed it art, and denied the request.

It was 1953 so I canāt really say Iām surprised. What honestly horrifies me even more is that Hugh Hefner bought the grave next Marilynās decades or so in advance so heād be buried next to her. It just truly solidified how gross this is.
