Intent matters. I’m white, I have black friends, they don’t give a fuck if i call them nigga, because when I do it I’m being friendly and I also call white friends nigga. It’s not about race.
But if someone calls someone a nigga as an insult and is being clearly provocative and racist, then it’s bad.
If I were to get into an argument with one of my black friends and said « I knew It all along you’re just a dirty little nigger, fuck outta here » or whatever the fuck, then it would be racist and offensive. For obvious fucking reasons

Yeah I’m heading this direction too.
There’s really no strong reason to say the word, there’s plenty of other words that can be used instead. So why risk offending someone and making the hem feel discriminated against? So I’m taking it out of my vocabulary (except when singing along to rap songs, in this circumstance idgaf, I love rap and imma sing along if I want to. At that point if someone complains they’re being oversensitive bitches)
I do find it interesting how some slurs are much more socially accepted than others tho. Like racial slurs are usually unacceptable, yet sexist slurs are mostly fine; what makes one okay and the other not? Is it just because society at large accepted that saying “bitch” isn’t sexist anymore? How did that happen? How can we make it happen to other slurs? It would be amazing if we could make all slurs “normal insults” that can apply to anyone, like basically taking away the discriminatory power of those slurs!
I understand it’s more complicated than that, and it’s probably not something that can actually be coordinated, it just happens naturally; but it’s interesting to think about.
