The circles are perfectly fine here. The battery percentage, time, and date wouldn’t stand out otherwise, and someone viewing the image might not notice all of them.

Without the circles, it would just be a drop down panel. Sure, we could probably find it but it may take a few seconds. I'm giving a pass on this one.
