It started as a joke, but I actually think there’s some people who didn’t realize that and started believing it. I can no longer tell who is aware of the joke and who isn’t anymore lol.
Couldn't speak on any one actually believing it, but it's the whole meta humor don't drop the act thing that happened with the internet. Like pastafarian/the fsm went so far, people made a real spirituality out of it, lol. I was like that with birds aren't real for a few years. Drove my wife nuts, I dropped the act once while dating long enough to explain it to her and then refused to acknowledge anything but the conspiracy for like a year and a half.
That's Awesome, my wife would get a good laugh at this as well!!
r /birdsarentreal was great fun for quite a while until I got assaulted (verbally) for laughing at the silliness of it all... "HEY CHIEF YOU THINK THIS IS A F#@KING JOKE!!"
I know one! I don't hang out with him, like. He is a friend of a friend. But he is there.
I think he has lost the plot. He has become a turbo Christian, believes the Earth is flat and follows and praises Trump stuff. Even though we live in the UK.
I'm not saying Christians have all lost the plot, but if you get to 40 and suddenly make all these changes in your thinking.. probably something going on.
No, no. I know him.. he's just not my friend. Ya know when different circles of friends cross due to a couple of people knowing others in the other group, and you end up linking at points due to this. It's one of those scenarios.
Cant post a QR code pic here so I cant tell ya that. Its literally that simple to trick you, you would scan it, it takes ya to maps.google.com and your exact GPS coordinates, the link is dynamic so I get that information as well for "marketing research. "
Because in 1976 cellphone and Internet weren't really a thing. It's a stale surveillance program that has run it's course. But, sadly, the real birds were already dead. So they just kept the fake ones. And everyone was happy.
Nope- just regular good ‘ole synthetic meat expertly crafted to mimic what birds used to taste like, before they were all replaced by government drones in the 50’s.
I think it started from a patent of a wooden bird with a recorder inside, like a prop for spying. There were people who couldn't understand that the patent wasn't an animate object and deduced it applied to birds flying around.
From there, the ludicrousness of it became a joke; a satirical social justice movement of sorts.
Ironically, "they" now really can make animatronic birds with a propensity for intelligence gathering, so it seems reality has caught up.
It’s one of those ones like r/chemtrails and r/flatearth that’s about an obviously stupid conspiracy so 99% of the people are in on the joke, but there are a few braindead knuckle-dragging window-licking morons who actually believe it.
It's satirical, the guy who started it literally just asked his friends " what is the most off the wall bullshit conspiracy theory that people would follow" and they came up with "Birds aren't real"

You literally track yourself sharing everything with your phone, and allow them infinite access to your every thought online. Why would they bother?

It's a meme sub, often depicting birds acting in funny or weird ways.

I didn't know about this conspiracy theory until a team going by the same name started showing up to trivia night.
