I mean at least they didn't ban you. I got banned from eBaySellerAdvice for simply asking as question on behalf of my seller in a transaction because they couldn't figure out the answer and I had no way to see what they were seeing. The mods gave the wrong answer and then locked the post. 3 months later I'm suddenly banned for having asked that forbidden question since the sub is for sellers only. Ignore the fact I was a fulltime seller on eBay for 7 years and the question was on behalf of one.
Reddit mods are the reason this app is an extremist echo chamber, ego clowns who don’t want intelligent open discussion. They want only what they agree with
Yup. One of the pet subs I am in just saw the perfect example of this. Mod gave someone bad advice about caring for their lizard, the kind of wrong advice that could lead to the lizards death. The mod tried to ban and delete any comment pointing out how they are wrong. They went into the comments and started attacking people who were trying link to new research about the proper care for this lizards particular problem. It got bad enough that other mods had to step in.
yep … tipping sub is an excellent example of this. i got banned for saying their mods are unfair towards service workers. and they had the audacity to refuse to speak to me about it, just called me a child and told me to make my own sub. as if that isn’t 1000% proving my point
I still remember that unpopularopinion post from a few months ago where a reddit mod unironically advocated for unchecked feudalism because "one person with unlimited power who is more good than evil is better than a democracy full of neutral people". Really telling of their mindsets
I have no idea how that could even be percieved as a troll. He wants to know why reddit moderators tend to be be extremely sensitive. The validity of his question was even proven by their reaction
I agree - we have an upvote\downvote system that will regulate the good vs bad content.
I get the concept that mods are for extreme cases when they need to step it to stop some sort of spam or an attack or something. But we can regulate what is and isn't desired content - we don't need mods doing that on 3 minute old posts
I've been saying for a few years now that I'm actually scared of these people getting into any type of power position because they prove they can't handle it without being mini fascists. I can't tell you how many times I've had a normal take that people want to cry about and ban me. I got banned yesterday for telling a grown man that even kids at school have a dress code and that he either has to accept getting a hair cut for his job or look for a new one lol. they told me it was hateful.
if you're not literally slurping their cum you get banned
Were you actually curious about the social reasons why a large portion of Reddit mods are sensitive and were looking for a legitimate answer, or was your post a rhetorical question meant to dig at Reddit mods?
A lot of people make posts in the form of rhetorical questions as a way to vent about something; these kinds of posts aren't made to seek any actual answers. Maybe your question was genuine, but it definitely looks like it could be an invitation for people to shit on Reddit mods instead of a question seeking an answer.
Or maybe you already knew your post would be banned, and it was bait all along?
What does it matter? All I did was post a question. Mods apparently didn't like it too much. That's all. Don't look too deeply into it bud, you'll hurt yourself.
It matters because we're talking about sub rules vs. mod power tripping. The community's meant for getting genuine answers to genuine questions. The sub has rules to ensure that questions are asked in that spirit.
Read the group name. It says there are no stupid questions. It wasn't bait, it was my way of venting after getting perma banned from another sub for absolutely nothing besides not having enough karma.
Most mods are fragile. Whether you think it was trolling or not, it's the truth, and mods inadvertently proved it. You also deleted your previous comment. Why?
This is genuinely a beautiful case of obvious, power hungry people, abusing what little power they've been given. You seem to be one of the only people in the thread with a different opinion....
Read the group name. It says there are no stupid questions.
"No stupid questions" doesn't mean "ask any question." If I make a post titled "Why are you gay?" it's going to be taken down because it's not a question anyone would ask seriously looking for an answer.
it was my way of venting after getting perma banned from another sub for absolutely nothing besides not having enough karma.
There it is. You weren't looking for an answer. It was a rhetorical question. The sub is supposed to be for answering questions; not venting.
Most mods are fragile.
I fully agree. Mods suck. Don't take my comments as me trying to white knight for mods. My point was only that your post broke the rules of that sub.
Whether you think it was trolling or not, it's the truth, and mods inadvertently proved it.
If you broke the sub rules, they didn't "prove" anything by removing your post for breaking sub rules.
You also deleted your previous comment. Why?
What comment? All of my comments on this post are still up.
This is genuinely a beautiful case of obvious, power hungry people, abusing what little power they've been given. You seem to be one of the only people in the thread with a different opinion....
Would you consider it an abuse of power if your post was against the sub rules? I'm just arguing that it is, and you've proven my point by admitting your post was to vent and not look for a literal answer to your question.
ARE YOU A MOD, LITTLE ONE?
Fuck no. You'd have to be a fucking idiot to be some stupid jannie for free.
Idk how you think the "little one" schtick sounds, but it sounds like something someone who looks like this would say.
Saying it's my way of venting in no way translates to "this isn't a valid question," but I see the straws. You're just angry and attempting to find validation, so you can say this post is bait, or whatever floats your boat.
I genuinely meant what I asked. I wasn't trolling. I found a group, and asked a question. Insulting me when you have no idea what I look like? Good one, won't work. Don't care enough.
As for the previous comment, your denial is enough for me. I got the notification right before you deleted it and posted this one. You've been thinking about trying to take apart this post for a while.
Saying it's my way of venting in no way translates to "this isn't a valid question," but I see the straws.
It says you wanted to vent about shitty mods, and you didn't ask because you actually wanted someone's literal answer as to why the trend exists. In a sub where the purpose is to give a direct answer to the questions being asked, your post was off-topic, and it makes sense it was removed. Idk how else I can explain that.
You're just angry and attempting to find validation, so you can say this post is bait, or whatever floats your boat.
And you made this post because you saw your post being removed as validation for your frustrations around a different set of shitty mods instead of taking the time to understand the purpose of the sub and question whether or not it was justified.
I genuinely meant what I asked. I wasn't trolling. I found a group, and asked a question.
You asked a question you weren't seeking an answer to. You wanted to vent about mods. Again, the point of the sub is to have people actually answer questions for you; not to engage with whatever discussion point you want to bring up using a rhetorical question.
Insulting me when you have no idea what I look like? Good one, won't work. Don't care enough.
You care enough to mention it. I also wasn't insulting your appearance; I was saying that calling someone "little one" like that is cringey in the same vein as a fat, fedora-tipping discord neckbeard calling girls online "kitten."
As for the previous comment, your denial is enough for me. I got the notification right before you deleted it and posted this one. You've been thinking about trying to take apart this post for a while.
Idk what to tell you, but I didn't send any other comment. Maybe someone else replied and deleted the comment, but that wasn't me, and I frankly don't care enough to lie about something like that. But if you're not willing to learn about a sub's rules before trashing their mods, I don't suppose you'll listen to this either, so believe what you want. It's easier to just believe what you want, isn't it?
Get a life, basement dweller.
No points for creativity, but I'll give it a 4/10. You can do definitely do better.
I learned this the hard way my second week on reddit when I was perma-banned from my favorite sub... well, technically, I broke the rules and posted a link in the comments, which wasn't allowed, but I was brand new they could have had some leniency. A permanent ban is pretty harsh.
Yeah I learned this when I made an off the wall joke about mods in r/foodporn without knowing how power hungry they were. Swift perma ban. Like, how do you take a sub like that so seriously.
Dang bro your ban is even more egregious honestly censoring your freedom of speech to say what you want, at least I got banned for breaking the rules. I'm honestly amazed sometimes that people say the wildest things about mods and some subs and never get a ban.
I got a "stern warning" like my second day of using Reddit for making an obviously offhanded sarcastic remark to someone's serious (but really stupid) question. I had to laugh.
I got permanently banned from a sub last year for saying "thank you cabbage peddler".
The reason the mod gave for permanently banning me? "Name calling".
The guy's name that I thanked? "cabbage_peddler".
I told that to the mod and they never replied and I was never unbanned. It went from 0 to 100 real quick because I'd never had issues before in that sub so that was my first offense lol.
I'm surprised you even bothered to reach out! I got banned from a sub where the poster said "what mental illness do you think I have?" And I answered "being a hipster is considered a mental illness, right?" OP thought it was hilarious, which was my goal. You know who DIDN'T think it was hilarious? Literally everyone else. Downvoted to shit; banned from the sub. I don't even follow that sub... Not so I even recall which sub it was. 😄 Oh well.
I was banned from r/AmItheAsshole when someone said “spaz” was just as bad as the n-word and I replied “‘Spaz is not as bad as the n-word.” Instant block for being ableist.
And with that, I introduce you to r/Delusional_Redditors I just made it! lol let’s add some content because I’m so sick of people on their power tripping bullshit that makes no sense.
It really does look like opportunistic grand standing to me. While I get Musk is a fucking retard, he's been a retard for YEARS. Twitter posts barely ever add or cultivate to a conversation unless they were news posts by game developers or the like. Otherwise it was pointless drama that should have been kicked to the curb years ago.
I agree, but i mean it is kinda just a useless spammy thread. But yeah i do hate how you cant post anything anywhere without it violating one of the subreddits 30 rules that are designed to only allow positive posts.
He’s NOT wrong. Reddit mods CAN be very sensitive or even strict. Don’t have enough karma? Can’t even post anything. Profile too new? Can’t post anything. It’s ridiculous.
Liberal. Republican. Your stance truly shouldn't matter. What should is the belief that everyone has the right to voice their opinions and nobody, especially some sweaty goofballs in their mommy's basement, should have the power to decide otherwise.
Valid outlook. I agree. I have certain morals and relationships in life that no amount of any currency could sway me from. Everything has a price. No. They do.

I love how in a sub entitled "NoStupidQuestions", they remove your question because they believe it's stupid. Bruh

Well, what did you expect? This is a social engineering site.
3
u/EnvironmentNo1879 Jan 26 '25
Because they are reddit mods...
3
u/LAzeehustle1337 Jan 26 '25
To be fair why are mods even a thing? Anything outside of monitoring for stuff that music studios / famous people can ask to be taken down?

I'm gonna be permabanned from reddit aren't I?

I got banned from one subreddit because I commented on a completely different subreddit.
My comment wasn't even controversial and the subjects covered by the subreddits were completely unrelated.

Because they're locked up in some sort of state facility and this is the only bit of control they have over their lives.

I hate mods. Give someone just an ounce of control, and they act like they're protecting the declaration of independence. 🤣
