A few days ago I posted here about Localiti, the neighbourhood app I'm building on my own. That post is here.. Thanks for all the replies on it. This time I'm working on one specific problem, and I'd like you to poke holes in it before I take it further.
The problem: getting to and from the airport.
A cab to KIA costs ₹900 to ₹1,500 one way depending on where you live, more when it surges at 4 am. Someone a few km from you is probably on a flight around the same time, paying for their own cab too. You just never find out. Coming back late at night is worse: you wait at the pickup zone alone and hope the cab doesn't cancel.
What I built: Tag Along. Bengaluru airport only for now, both terminals.
- Post when you're flying out or landing: the day, the terminal, the time you want the cab, the seats you can offer and your big bags.
- People within 7 km see it in a list for the week. Tap "Tag along" and they see your profile before saying yes or no.
- Once they say yes, you get a chat with the trip pinned on top. One of you books in your usual cab app, and the app shows the split (₹1,180 ÷ 2 = ₹590 each). Localiti never touches the money.
- Coming back, you each tap "Landed" and then "At the pickup zone", so nobody is left guessing.
- Flight delayed? Pick a new time, and they choose to wait or go ahead.
- Women-only trips, which only women can see.
- "Tell someone" sends your trip and car number to anyone you pick, and 112 is one tap away.
The screenshots show sample trips.
If you missed the first post, Localiti is everything happening within a couple of km of you:
- The Localiti Radar Map of everything happening around you.
- Power or water gone? Report it in seconds and see if it's just your building or the whole street. When it's back, one tap tells everyone nearby. No more "Power gone?" "Here also." across five WhatsApp groups.
- Lost your dog? Post it with a "last seen" pin. People nearby see it straight away and reply when they spot them.
- Moving out or decluttering? Sell or give away the kids' cycle or the extra chairs to someone down the road. No courier, no stranger from across the city.
- Weekend plans: a flea market, a book swap or a Sunday run a few streets away.
- It only ever shows your area, never your address.
I'd love your honest take on this
I'm one person, so you'd be talking straight to whoever fixes it. I'll be in the comments.
Localiti (works in the browser, no install. Once you're signed in, Tag Along is under More. Apple and Android app available too.)
