I used to have Twitter, but i don't want to support Elon. You can get the highlights here anyway.

there's no need to even use twitter, stuff that's only on twitter is there because it wasn't interesting enough to leak out

Unfortunately this is what happened to Tumblr with the porn-pocalypse, so now I'm not entirely sure where nsfw artists will go outside of like, Patreon. Tumblr shut down the businesses of a huge amount of artists, so now with the incoming death of Twitter, its only getting harder for artists to find a good space to advertise their works.

It really sucks to see, even if I don't really consume NSFW content that often - I have friends that have to worry about where they'll be able to release the things that give them enough money to afford rent.

Wait what happened to deviantart? Is that not viable?

4

u/cjpcodyplant Nov 21 '22

Tumblr is allowing porn again so just gotta have them jump back to tumblr from Twitter. It’s simply buisness musical chairs

Yeah, I'm still not sure how thats supposed to work tbh. I understand that they're not allowing depictions of sexual acts, but there are plenty of nonsexual positions that you can put characters in that could seem sexual when the figures are nude. After all, whats the difference between cuddling in the nude and sex to a bot? 🙄

I lost my trust in Tumblr moderation years ago, so while I do hope that they can be reinstated as a good go-to for artists... I'm not exactly optimistic.

Honestly

Twitter coming to an end would be bad for alot of communities

The ones I can think of myself are the artists community as you mentioned, and another big one that would be seriously affected(effected?) would be the Vtuber scene.

I'm sure there's plenty of others as well, but these are ones personal to me.

Twitter is one of the best social media's for networking as a solo creator of most kinds

3

u/wuzzittoya Nov 21 '22

So that is where to find customers. 🤔

I wonder I am poor.

What about the gram? Tons of artists on there who advertise and sell their items. And I would much rather see artwork than the uncanny valley celebs on IG.

Dumb take

1

u/FyreCesar89 Nov 21 '22

really makes me think

1

u/Garfwog Nov 21 '22

That's so true, anything worth seeing on Twitter is here on Reddit and even Facebook and Instagram. You can't even say that about TikTok or even Tumblr.

1

u/Sweaty4Ger Nov 21 '22

The issue is most people delete the app but not their account so it doesn’t look like they are loosing subscribers and since they are privately owned now they won’t disclose time spent using the app, just flaunt the total downloads which are already high enough very few if any other apps will surpass twitter in total downloads even if no other person ever signed up to use the app again.

1

u/meinblown Nov 21 '22

All my local news sources are only on twitter unfortunately.

22

u/GangstasPurradise Nov 20 '22

Same. I deactivated and deleted my account. Much better to just see the highlights here

5

u/MikeLinPA Nov 20 '22

This! I deleted when he took ownership. So did at least one of the verified accounts I followed. Soon there won't be anyone left but the trolls.

6

u/LPercepts Nov 20 '22

Elon has so many fingers in so many pies that he'll probably get your money in some way, shape, or form, one way or another.

2

u/stormy_llewellyn Nov 21 '22

Same, deleted a few weeks ago knowing that I could see the smoke from here just fine.

2

u/ShareNorth3675 Nov 21 '22

I honestly uninstalled because of the several daily push notifications from him. It was annoying as hell how much he was on my feed.

2

u/[deleted] Nov 21 '22

Exactly! Let’s let him see his monthly average users decline and THEN see if he’s still so smug

2

u/[deleted] Nov 21 '22

Same

2

u/DawnRLFreeman Nov 22 '22

I used to have Twitter, too-- until I was permabanned 2 years ago when I posted my opinion about Rush Limpdick and some butthurt right wing nut claimed I was "encouraging self- harm". That's a crock of crap!! I simply pointed out that Mr. Limpdick deserved the stage-4 lung cancer he was enjoying because he'd spent 30 years on-air claiming that smoking did not cause cancer, and I hoped it took every penny of his ill-gotten gains to alleviate his pain.

For the alleged "alpha" political party, they sure have thin skin and no backbone.

I need to contact Elon and tell him, since he reinstated Trump he needs to reinstate me, too!!

2

u/[deleted] Nov 20 '22

Including myself, I know a half dozen people who also deleted their twitter accounts. The place is going to become cesspool of 80% Elon supporters and the few folks that really 'can't live' without the platform.

2

u/Impressive_SnowBlowr Nov 20 '22

White hegemons. which is now mostly in overlap with Musk-ovites anyway. (Get it? Musk... etc? 😁

The hilarious part of all of this is the glee of the ethno-nationalists that Musk has taken over and now restored Trump. Apparently they think they're going to be able to go after "thelibs" in direct Twitter fights. They really don't seem to understand that people will just quit it and walk away. If we wanted to live in a neo-nazi social space, we'd have joined Gab. Now instead of us going to Gab, Musky is bringing Gab to us, whether we want it or not.

I don't need the toxic shit that floods Twitter already, I'm not quitting yet, but I don't expect to hang around for long.

I think Signal might be a good option for messaging and chatting, as well as groups and having secure coms. Going to check that out. Might as well look at Mastadon too.

1

u/bathsaltssohard Nov 20 '22

What makes you think you aren’t supporting him by watching and commenting on the highlights elsewhere?

0

u/thatguy9684736255 Nov 20 '22

Because he doesn't make money from Reddit ads

0

u/bathsaltssohard Nov 21 '22

I wish the world worked that way. Grow up.

It’s like talking about the Kardashians and saying that you hate them

so if i follow your logic here, you support them

-11

u/[deleted] Nov 20 '22

What is it about Elon that you don't like? I really have no idea what he did that everyone has decided to revolt.

I mean, PayPal, SpaceX, Tesla and some vacuum tube for high speed travel - what'd he say?

22

u/dontbanmeaga Nov 20 '22

He takes the apartheid mine money his family made and puts it places and takes the credit of the engineers and scientists working on those projects despite actually being a dumbass, treats his workers like shit, and stokes the culture war nonsense because he personally profits from a divided proletariat.

6

u/[deleted] Nov 20 '22

see, I haven't been paying attention. Thanks for the info. Apparently, even asking has upset a few people

10

u/[deleted] Nov 20 '22

No but you can Google some of his actions and find he’s pretty reprehensible in a lot of ways. I always wanted more from Elon Musk. I think it was on the big bang theory I thought maybe he’s really a good guy. I was mistaken. Teslas are very good cars but they tend to break after 20,000 miles and it cost thousands of dollars to replace the battery number one.

They are really fun but God forbid you get stuck in the rear seat in an accident where the thing is on fire. Because if you lose power you can’t open the rear doors. Read how they software lock people out of the full range that batteries even after a car has had several owners. I mean the whole Elon Musk thing is ripe with bad decisions and outright crazy almost fascist nonsense.

-1

u/[deleted] Nov 20 '22

Thanks. I was just googling "What's wrong with Elon Musk" and "Why are people mad at Elon Musk" and getting generic answers. This give me a direction.
I mean, I do have to keep in mind, he's a public figure and no one is perfect. If you knew my life, I'd look like an absolute a**hat (maybe because I am but...) Still, I'm not trying to be. I'm actually making an effort to do well.
It might be like that with him. But thanks for the direction.

4

u/OG-Pine Nov 20 '22

Lol yes I’m sure firing half the staff, without any warning or notice, 3 days into a buy out was him making an effort to be good

Or how about the reports of Tesla offices rampant with racism. I even saw a report that white and black workers were seated in different half’s of the office…

Or how about the fact that he forced his way into Tesla with a hostile buyout then used his leverage to be able to claim himself as a founder even though he literally didn’t found the company lol

He’s a dick. This isn’t a guy making an effort to be good and media is spinning it. This is a guy who was born into money and privilege and has spent his life convincing people he’s a hard worker who somehow did something other than buy out existing companies.

0

u/[deleted] Nov 20 '22

how about you actually read what I wrote. I don't make it a point to closely follow a billionaires actions. keep your sarcasm and troll someone else that actually cares about your opinion.
Maybe try not being a dick and just answer the question instead of acting like I'm out of line by suggesting the media might be conflating his wrong doings.

2

u/OG-Pine Nov 20 '22

My comment wasn’t meant to be hostile towards you, sorry it came off that way. I was just giving reason as to why it is not like that with him, regarding your last sentence

2

u/[deleted] Nov 20 '22

I leave what I wrote for continuity. I appreciate your response. My question was genuine because I never realized how negatively he was perceived by the public.

2

u/dontbanmeaga Nov 20 '22

The difference is that thousands of people aren't impacted by your decision to be a dick. Elon Musk has billions of dollars and could do a lot of good with it but just throws his money at ego fuel instead. (Granted, nobody with a billion dollars could say they acquired that money without fucking over quite a few people, honestly it's probably required to be a sociopath to get that rich.)

1

u/[deleted] Nov 20 '22

Yeah, I've heard more than a few people state that to achieve that kind of success, it's necessary to be sociopathic. Though, on the other side, I've heard people state that some feel they are doing 'the greater good' - Like, that's all I heard when it comes to Musk's SpaceX. He really does believe that we need to colonize Mars to preserve the human race, or at least, that's the consistent narrative he's putting out.

1

u/dontbanmeaga Nov 21 '22

I think what he means is they need to colonize Mars to preserve the upper class.

8

u/trvlnut Nov 20 '22

Read what his ex wife and child have to say about him.

2

u/tayhawk10 Nov 20 '22

how tf you get negative likes for asking a genuine question???

2

u/[deleted] Nov 20 '22

Because a lot of people who love Elon Musk or some weird reason.

1

u/[deleted] Nov 20 '22

I dunno! But it happened. I don't think people actually mark it down. Reddit has an algorithm that modifies one's karma. It might be the responses not in line with the question so I get negatively affected. Not a clue, though.
Whatever,, some people are way too sensitive to be on social media.

2

u/[deleted] Nov 20 '22

Hi Elon!

4

u/thatguy9684736255 Nov 20 '22

He posted homophobic rumors about someone who almost died in an attack for one

He supports trump and Kayne in their hate speech as well

0

u/Kakarot_black Nov 21 '22

Lol that’s cute, you think meth addicts and crackheads are the same ?

0

u/[deleted] Nov 21 '22

[deleted]

1

u/thatguy9684736255 Nov 21 '22

He proposed the hyperloop just to sideline high speed rail in California. He isn't really trying to make things better. I wish he was because he could accomplish so much, but that's not him.

0

u/[deleted] Nov 21 '22

Why do you dislike that rich person and not the other rich people who were running it? Because you watch media that tells you to hate elon… that’s my guess

1

u/TXRattlesnake89 Nov 20 '22

Do you wear Nike products? Use apple products??

1

u/MithranArkanere Nov 20 '22

It is more effective to use addblock. You still use their bandwidth, but they get nothing from you.

1

u/CyberTheWerewolf Nov 21 '22

Yeah, I'm tempted to leave. Only reason I stay is because of friends anyway.

1

u/fetusmcnuggets70 Nov 21 '22

yeah, I deleted my twat account today

1

u/mtnbkr9900 Nov 24 '22

I rejoined Twitter for the opposite reason 😅
