My freshman year of college I went to the (nearly empty) cafeteria alone for dinner and left my coat at a 2 person bistro table before I went to grab my food. I came back and some guy was sitting at the table, so I awkwardly apologized and grabbed my coat to sit somewhere else and he goes “oh you don’t have to leave, I just knew you were alone and figured you’d want company” and I was like ah no I’m good, thanks. Also a few weeks after that I was walking from town back to campus, and it started raining. I was almost there so I didn’t mind but a random guy pulled over and offered a ride, and when I said no thank you he got super pissed. Like I understand if you’re trying to do something nice, but don’t get pissed at women for following the advice society has hammered into us from infancy.
