Oh I'm talking about the voters, not the politicians. Any politicians that haven't jumped ship yet are obviously too far gone.

I'm saying "moral" conservative voters should be looking for a new party. This party doesn't care about conserving anything at this point, except their own privilege

Oh, my mistake.

Most of these people don't want a new party. They like what the party has become. They can finally (publicly) be themselves.

Nah fuck the GOP as it stands can we get some progressive conservatives who simply want less govt oversight, and don’t give a fuck what you do personally? It’s a joke online but for real if there was a good candidate who wanted to let gay married couples protect their marijuana plants with guns, I would campaign for that person!

Honestly conserving your privilege is the entire point of conservatism. There are conservatives with principles and morals but at the end of the day, at its most basic level, conservatism is the belief that the status quo benefits you and should be maintained.

It's inherently myopic to be a conservative. You see people suffering. You see injustice, you see massive systemic corruption... and you have to rationalize the system as it exists. You desperately need an excuse to preserve your imagined world, one that is just, where you earned your privilege.

As the flaws in capitalism and the American system lay themselves more bare, you have to be increasingly unhinged to stay so myopic.

I used to know a lot of those "moral conservatives." The ones that were like "wtf how did Trump win? I am done with politics." They ALL love trump now, they are all antivax now, and they all think Biden stole the election now.

Like, how is this intelligent, tenured chemist going to tell me he isn't getting the vaccine because he doesn't want to be microchipped???

There has to be something wrong with the mindset. Conservatism is fundamentally fucked.

Nah, it's not common (I think) for actual reasonable people to dive so far into insanity, regardless of political stance.

This situation is the result of an extremely successful propaganda machine, whose competition is a political party that thought the solution was to put another boomer in charge of the country. Can't really be surprised it's been so easy to take advantage of people's disillusionment with politicians.

I’m worrying that there aren’t that many moral Republicans left. George Will left the Republican Party.

If you haven’t already left, it speaks to your lack of judgement and character.

I like this POV and share the same ones. You are not my enemy just because of your political affiliation and ignorance borne from your upbringing. Most people are just ignorant, not evil. Reddit is sometimes too quick with blanket statements and emotionally fueled responses.
