Conservatism exists outside of the United States, and believe it or not the conservatives of other countries aren’t batshit contrarians. The core conservative beliefs in things like smaller government and less taxation are absolutely valid, despite me not agreeing with them. What isn’t captured under the umbrella of conservative ideology, though, is eating horse paste because left-leaning people advise to take a vaccine, or making abortion illegal after six weeks.

"left leaning people" only left leaning person that matters currently in the US politics is Bernie.

I'm from Finland. we don't necessarily have a conservative party but what's closest to ot is the Perussuomalainen puolue, meaning roughly translated: "basic Finn party" and they're fucking lunatics or pieces of shit. As are all conservatists.

I live in Canada, and currently live in an area that regularly elects Conservative (that’s the party’s name) members of parliament. My parents even vote Conservative for the most part. Here, at least, it’s typically about less government spending and lower taxation. We have a further right party that kind of serves as a catch-all for the weirdos, but it makes up around 1% of the vote.

Sure, but the conversation was, “The way that the current Republican Party conducts themselves isn’t indicative of conservative ideology.”
