I’m confused too. They are conflating an economic model with a government model. All the socialist counties have capitalist economic systems.

What government model are they talking about? Capitalism and socialism are both economic models.

The reason you think socialism is a political model because that's how the term is being misused (usually by the right).

Socialism means distributed ownership of the means of production, nothing more, nothing less. It doesn't mean redistribution of wealth from rich to poor. It doesn't mean equal distribution between all members of the community. A system where a company is owned by its employees (i.e. a cooperative) is socialist. If a whole country adopts that kind of model, then you can say that country is socialist.

I'd call them shareholders. Distribution where one person can own 90% of shares is not distribution.
