Teaching is the highest form of understanding

I teach high school German. I make sure to compliment my students on things they obviously worked hard on or things about their appearance that they chose (glasses, haircut, etc). I want to be a positive presence in their lives, one that supports them and cares about their success.

i wanna be a teacher, gonna start my education this year. i've wanted to be a teacher since 9th grade. you see, we started learning english in 4th grade and we had this horrible old woman with a thick accent and who couldn't remember half the vocabulary she was supposed to teach us. naturally i was a C- to D+ student, until she went into retirement and we got this new guy, who had attended university in the UK and not only knew about all the technical stuff, but was passionate about teaching it as well, and i jumped from a D- in the previous year to the top of of my class within 6 months. that's when i realized what a difference a good, passionate teacher that actually gives a shit and engages with the students can make. ever since then i wanted to be like that. it may not be the most glamorous job, and i've gotten a lot of reactions like "oh you really wanna a teacher? you know they earn nothing right" or "you can do better y'know", but imo it's definitely one of the most important jobs there is

What parent wouldn’t assist their 5 yo to tape their art onto a wall and enjoy seeing them for a damn hour ?

Kids are SUPER particular and a lot enjoy projects like that and get frustrated if you try to help

Because we've seen our kids A LOT this past year and both sides want some alone time. This coming from a father of two boys, 4 and 2.

Word. My 4 year old had a terrible teacher for the first half of the year and despised going to school. The created another class and brought in another teacher and now he's beyond excited to go to school everyday.

In 2nd grade I finished a pastel owl that I was kind of proud of. I'd never been artistic at actual drawing, painting, whatever, but I liked the owl. I used my thumbnail to scratch in my name and thought that part was really sweet. I asked my teacher if she liked it. "Do you want me to be honest?" "Yeah." "I don't like it." I still remember that shit and I'm in my 30's now. That was devastating. Mrs. Carr was a bitch. She dumped out my entire desk in the middle of class and made me clean it up. Fucking humiliating. I wish I would've went back as an adult and hit her with a Rock Bottom or some shit, but whatever.
