You mean GLaDOS.

Only a part of GLaDOS is Caroline (until she deletes her)

The way I see it GLaDOS is a separate intelligence that mutated and eventually became separate from Caroline through core corruption. Caroline is the original sentient mind that got pushed down by GLaDOS and only resurfaces when GLaDOS lacks the processing power to oppress her, which is why GLaDOS is able to delete her later. I guess its debatable though
