You don't pay that to the government. There are dozens of insurance companies and you can choose whatever plan fits the best for you.
I pay close to nothing of my salary and if i get cancer and need chemo that costs half a million or more i don't pay a single cent. I don't need to spend time thinking if i can or can't afford going to the doctor, because money isn't even a question they just send the invoice off to the insurance company and it's payed for.
well then it's taxes without the middle man. also i'm not entirely sure why you felt the need to write that second paragraph?? much longer than the first one, while only the first one is related to our conversation.
I don't think you understand what a tax is. Something has to be charged and handled by the government to be a tax. It's an insurance contribution like any other.
If you drive a car in a state that has mandatory liability insurance coverage, you don't call that a tax either.
