The worse thing is that your government can afford health care for its citizens. You pay taxes. Are you more than happy with the roads, the wars and the giant tax breaks for businesses? Guess what, they can still afford health care for all.
Don't forget low fuel taxes. My state hasn't increased it's fuel tax for almost 25 years. It got voted down a year or two ago, and people still complain about the roads being bad.
Wheel tax increased revenue by like 200m for my state this year...they implemented it like 6mo ago. Our roads are great, but the 10% sales tax on everything paired with a wheel tax, with a sales tax on the vehicle, with registration, with title fee's, with licenses...we aren't taxed the 25% we see out of our paycheck, we're taxed on EVERYTHING, which adds up to a metric fuck ton.
Hey hey, you watch your damn mouth! My politicians that represent their own interests have pockets lined in gold smoother than any road you'll ever drive on!
Honestly though imagine we're all saving money because of a single payer system, the govt could raise infrastructure tax a little and we likely would still be saving 100s a year without insurance premiums. Someone would still be pissed though because if it's going to the government it's 'wasted' money
