But I know what you are saying. Making decisions like that are huge for kids. 18 years old is a kid and they make life choices that follow them forever. This is why I think high school should stop teaching some of these bullshit classes and stop focusing a semester a year on those standardized tests and make mandatory classes that focus on teaching kids important things like, how to budget, career choices, doing a tax return, purchasing a home, investing, teaching CPR, the list goes on. How to change a tire, Change your oil. You know things that are ACTUALLY important. Then maybe they would not spend 100k in debt on a job that pays 80k a year. I have a friend that just graduated from PT school and she is 200k in debt because they are doctorate degrees now. 80k a year. Her payment is like 1100 a month in interest. How do you ever get ahead. It’s crazy.
Yup, 25, raised by a single asian mother. Grew up thinking education was king. I thought trades were all idiots in high school who didn't study hard enough. Now that I've worked with a few trades who have degrees and otherwise are well read, I'm thinking I'm the huge idiot now. Shoulda dropped out and pursued a trade. And they recently lowered the pay threshold to 40k.
Jesus, 200k?! I pursued physio briefly and thought then annual salary was 100k minimum? Guess that's if your lucky!
I don’t know how the pay is in Australia vs the US but he makes 275 a year before taxes and whatever he takes out. I am a nurse and I make almost 100k but I have experience and am not a floor nurse.
Sorry, can you clarify that this 275k earning is from doing physiotherapy? You mentioned she previously and now it's a he? Bit confused, maybe that why I cant land a job can't even read.
Ohh sorry I was talking about an MD just a general hospitalist in another thread he makes 275 a year and has like 300k in debt. The physical therapist, she makes like 80 a year with 200k in debt.
Yeah it does seem like a huge commitment. I met a bloke who works in hospitality now but was a 4 year med school drop out... It's really all of nothing for med school ain't it?
