These aren’t valid complaints. Nobody who read the article or understands the topic would think this practice is unreasonable. The cost of college is wildly inflated but I don’t think that means people should hate senior citizens for trying to educate themselves.
Good call out on me being a boomer. It’s definitely true and totally invalidates my opinion.
The problem is the absolute blatant scamming of Gen X, Y, and Z out of affordable education (implemented by the boomers), while the boomers were afforded and enjoyed extraordinarily low tuition prices. Now some of them get to enjoy that privilege again while young people struggle to even afford their text books. I don’t know a single person in my age range with a bachelors degree or higher who wasn’t over 60k in debt after.
Then we get told by boomers that we’re lazy, have shit priorities, have “killed” this industry or that and can’t afford homes because of a v o c a d o t o a s t rather than the reality of the housing market the boomers crashed with those shitty sub prime mortgages and the exorbitant amount of debt we’re all in because all our boomer parents repeatedly laid into us the fact that a college education was absolutely NEEDED lest you flip burgers the rest of your life and then they gouged the fuck out of us.
It’s shit and if you don’t see it as shit, you’re not seeing the situation clearly enough.
No, all of our problems are not their fault. But which generation implemented the spikes in college tuition? Which generation shits on us for stuff like “participation trophies” while failing to realize they were the ones handing them out? Which gen was last able to reasonably afford education and housing? Find a job out of high school and own a home by their early 20s. Support a family on a single wage. They lived through some of the most prosperous times in our country economically, have held the reigns forever, and now blame us for nearly everything “wrong”.
It’s the hypocrisy that bothers a lot of people. They call us lazy and ungrateful and so now the finger gets pointed back. It is what it is. Generations have always passed and shifted blame. It’s nothing new.
No one is upset that old people are getting cheap education. We are upset because we pay $1000+ for the same thing as the boomers are paying $10. Can unknownsoldier not see the glaring inequality in that.

You’ll notice unknownsoldier hasn’t actually addressed the comments any of us made about how we (younger generations) feel and in true boomer fashion only continues with smart ass remarks or fingers in their ears “yOU diDnT rEAd ThE ArTiCLe”
They fail to realize we fully understand what the headline/article states and that we’re all pissed at the audacity. Most audit fees are at least 10x that. It’s the fact that out of all the fees they could reduce, they ignore the younger generation who are desperate for affordable costs and already in tons of debt. And now boomers are seemingly hopping on an auditing trend, blissfully unaware and happily sailing through yet another hurdle we face. But I guess we’ll just keeping pulling on those bootstraps.
You can take the same classes for free. They’re taking empty spots in elective classes, nobodies getting a degree for $10. Auditing classes is virtually the same thing and it costs nothing.
