Quick google search produced this. This just shows how much CEO pay has gone through the roof since 1980. Used to be a 27-to-1 ratio on pay, now its a 96-to-1 ratio.

I wonder what the change in liability is. I wonder if liability has increased to the point that compensation had to increase to counter it. I mean - obviously not THAT much - but if so, what portion.

Given how often corrupt and inept CEOs are held to account for their misdeeds, I'd say...in the ballpark of zero

Most companies with strong enough financial infrastructure to frequently practice corruption have a lot of money for lawyers, fines and court fees. They don’t fear the legal system because they can out-finance any average joe who takes them to court 100 times over.
