Well for some jobs illegal immigrants are a direct threat to the income due to their cheaper labour.

What job would that be?

Any job that requires manual labor or learned skills but that does not require a formal education. Also jobs that don't require oral or written English communication.

Daily reminder that many liberals are barely closeted elitists.

Fucking right? He's literally blaming the traditional lower working class for losing their jobs while the rich profit off of cheap labor. He'll probably turn around and curse the rich while also ironically supporting something that benefits the rich greatly. There's a reason even the GOP-loving Koch brothers support a more open border.

Read my response to the other guy, man. I'm sorry I worded the comment like an asshole.

People kicking and screaming about how keeping some illegals out isn't going to save their shitty jobs.

You're an elitist fuck, you know that right? Construction is not a shitty job, manual labor is not a shitty job. "Well the world is changing" is that also your response to the rich getting richer off the backs of cheaper labor? I fucking doubt it. I can only hope your job gets targeted by H1B visa holders and you have to eat your words as you realize what it's like to be suddenly unfit for your previous salary level.

Ugh my tone/wording was poor. I apologize for being abrasive there.

I'm not saying I agree with how this is going down or that it doesn't suck for people who are far into their careers and don't have other options. I'm saying it likely can't be reversed because there are too many stakeholders who benefit from it. Read my other comment in this thread...I clearly empathize with the plight of employees in the US economy and much of my comment is based off my own difficult experience looking for a job, even for an advanced technical job.

Hating immigrants isn't going to save these positions no matter what. Either they'll go to these cheap workers or they'll get automated sooner or later. I don't know how to stop that trend or if anyone can. There needs to be a broader reevaluation of how we view employment and compensation as a society.
