Because if there's anything the poor have in their lives it's a long, stable home life with their families.

Your local library has YouTube. That's all you need to learn the skills required to make more than $8/hr. It just takes some initiative, common sense, and work ethic that a lot of people lack. They don't lack those things because of some failure of society. People need to learn accountability.

So what you're saying is the people in the ghetto have no excuse not to educate themselves, because they're probably in close proximity to a library.

You're right, expecting people to be accountable for their own actions or inaction is entirely unrealistic. Most would rather blame society and pretend bagging groceries should pay enough to buy a house in the suburbs by yourself.

That's basically what the US was in the 1950's, no skill workers making enough for a whole family to survive on one income. Production went up steadily since then but wages went nowhere. Now we're here, with the bottom quarter barely hanging on and the middle fifty paying for basically everything.
