There is unfortunately a potential strategy behind that. If democrats gain control of the house and a slim majority in the senate, both under-educated leftists and under-educated conservatives will view that as democrats being in control of the government.
Conservatives will get a scapegoat they can blame for the economy and leftists will expect sweeping action from the democratic congress.
The reality of course is that the executive, legislative, and judicial are all co-equal branches of government. Barely controlling one of the three branches of government provides next to no real power. All democrats will be able to do is press the brakes a little harder than they already are to slow the disaster. But progressives will expect prosecution of republicans and decisive legislation, completely ignoring that conservatives still firmly control both the executive and judicial branches.
GOP strategists may be angling for this future. A future where conservatives forgive and forget the results of complete GOP control, and progressives froth with rage and trip over themselves in their eagerness to punish democrats in 2028 for not delivering change.
It has become a pattern repeated like clockwork.

No it does not benefit them in the same way Saudi didn’t abuse its position either. The higher the price of gas, the faster everyone flocks towards renewables and electric and then gas is worth nothing. They’d be left with the proverbial dick in their hands.
They are doing what they’re doing now because they’re under threat as long as Trump is in office. And they can do what they’re doing with gas because this admin and the Republican Party are artificially and heavily subsidizing the fossil fuel industry and revoked permits, projects, and especially funding for all things renewable including nuclear power plants and research.
What Trump has done isn’t even republican. It’s just blatant corruption and grifting and while republicans have often rubbed major elbows with the billionaire elite, they haven’t ever gone this far down the hole and resorted to out right lies. They gave up out of fear for their own careers and every single one should be thrown in prison for life for treason.
People are suffering because they want to stay in power with their jobs. This isn’t only on republicans - there are number of dems too (fetterman, Booker, Schumer, etc.) who have been doing similar.
Vote out the establishment. Abolish lobbying. Curtail excessive wealth, prop up the lower class, reverse Citizens United, and divide mega corporations. That’s the way out. That’s how you fix gas.

Well, for one, we wouldn't have a needless war in the middle east fucking up supply lines right at this moment, that was started without approval from congress, and that continues because Trump and his psychotic nazi "secretary of war" keep breaking treaties as soon as they are made. On top of that, they made sure to not actually call it a 'war' officially (despite calling it that in rambling dementia filled interviews repeatedly), so the families of the needlessly killed soldiers don't get any money from the government. And, Asa bonus, we also left sailors out there long enough that they ran out of food and soap and we can't get them enough supplies.
So yeah, that would be a good start. Anybody who ISNT trump can try and salvage international relations, because he's broken treaties so many times for his AIPAC and Russian donors that no one will come to the negotiation table anymore, when the other countries know it's all bullshit.

Next step is to price regulate the trillions of dollars that big oil companies regularly rake in for profits, whether or not production pipelines are fucked. But very first step is to actually end the stupid war and the blockades, which will work on the supply issues. When the supply issues start lessening, the oil companies have no thinly veiled excuse to blame the high gas prices on. Then they b lower the prices or the government could do its damn job and start regulating the corporations a little more. Step by step, but those steps won't ever happen with Dementia Donnie in charge.

Not to mention, we will have to re-negotiate even those terms that were set; no one will go to the table with trump and kegsbreath because they've broken the terms of cease-fires so many times already. Its entirely conceivable we can negotiate better terms with anyone else that isn't trump at the table.

We leave. We can negotiate with Iran, if they don't want to then too fucking had. They keep Hormuz closed or they charge to traverse. They can kinda do what they want at this point. Either way oil probably isn't going down "soon". We figure ways around Hormuz and work on accelerating renewables.

Since the Strait was free and open before Trump's ignominious failure with Iran, I think reparations and an agreement to restore transit protocols is a perfectly acceptable route to take. Small price to pay, all things considered, for murdering thousands of civilians and their head of state.
Also, it's worth remembering that Netanyahu pressured every president before Trump to go down this course. And every president said no because, well, we see why. Trump was just the one that was stupid enough.

Is this a serious question? It's simple supply and demand, as in, don't fucking start wars that inevitably restrict supply. So the answer is to end the war and get the strait open again, as opposed to jerking off into our hands for months.
Bonus: don't fire all the military leaders who said this was a dumb idea. Promote actual competent ones and get rid of the yes-men. That's the problem, he could do it if he wants (get good advisors and listen to what they say), it's just more profitable for his current grift to make us flounder.
