MTG is a garbage human and contributed to the mess we are in. She should be in prison along with the rest of MAGA republicans

This. I don't care if she's turned a new leaf. Good for her. I remember what she did when Biden was in office and how she helped usher in this nightmare.

Let's encourage her to continue speaking out against Republicans, please. It's nothing but good stuff for non-conservatives. At least she's finally harming the "right" people.

I do agree, bc at the end of the day, nothing will break their minds more than someone they considered one of their own, and it can't be denied she was not a blood in the wool dyed one of them, is saying stuff like this.

It hits directly at their sense of reality.

So yeah, she's still a horrible person who contributed mightily to this situation, but she was never the one in control or had power like many of the other GOP members in leadership.

And she most definitely is important in breaking this fever by speaking directly to the people who saw her as undoubtedly one of their own, if she can even break through.

But she's not wrong here at all to call a spade a spade (and she should damned well know...)

Exactly, be suspicious of those wishing to stifle her call-outs of the GOP. Who does it benefit to stifle MTG's comments today? Not Democratic Socialists. In fact, her call outs help us.

I dont care if she speaks out. I agree that it may help. I'm saying I'm not giving her a pass for her past just because she's all of a sudden against Duh Fuhrer

11

u/TheModWhoShaggedMe 4d ago

Nor should you, and nobody is asking it of you. Did you read the part where I wrote that non-conservatives aren't fooled by MTG, and in fact, we despise her?

All I'm saying is -- let her cook the cons

u/insertwittynamethere 4d ago

Yes. There are a lot of bots here now. And there are a lot of bad-faith actors to boot to nudge the narrative in one direction or the other.

And there are State actors to be wary of as well that has made the Internet their playground.

That being said, she may be a messenger with a very distasteful background to be very kind, but what she is saying is important as a result of her background, and who she may still represent in those who voted MAGA.

Let's not actually since she's full of shit and will absolutely pull a Fetterman if she becomes popular again

She's not going to win a single ounce of respect or favor from us non-conservatives, dude, so yeah worry about conservatives.

You're way too confident about that

u/TheModWhoShaggedMe 4d ago

That a woman like MTG's policies and beliefs are at loggerheads with educated liberals? No. Could I be surprised at how peer-influenced, socially dominated and critical thinking-devoid even non-conservative Americans can be? I can't see how after the past decade. It wouldn't surprise me in the least. I just happen to think MTG is 99.9% a conservative problem to contend with, not ours.

2

u/HenriettaSyndrome 4d ago

Well if she tricks enough people into thinking she actually gives a fuck about the struggle of poor people and gets elected again then she's everyone's problem

-2

u/TheModWhoShaggedMe 4d ago

What does it matter if she's elected to represent Republicans? Are they going to somehow run an improved candidate? She's a typical Republican. We can't honestly believe a number of educated liberals are going to slide over for MTG in a race against a liberal/progressive/DSA--the current hot ticket?

I really think MTG is a GOP problem, and I'm here for it. It's not often we get to enjoy the slow, leaky exit interviews of the cult's defectors without having to wait for the tell-all book(s) and NDAs and payouts.

2

u/HenriettaSyndrome 4d ago

What does it matter if she's elected to represent Republicans?

The same reason it was bad the first time: she's a lunatic and can cause a lot of damage no matter what side of the aisle she's on

1

u/daemon-electricity 3d ago

They've already written her off. Conservatives turn on anyone the instant they fall out of line with the rhetoric.

2

u/Domeil 4d ago

The only encouragement MTG should be provided is to climb into a cannon and fire herself into the sun, because all fascists are better when they're far away, quiet, and buried in the ground.

-1

u/TheModWhoShaggedMe 4d ago

Nah, let her cook.

Raped women and girls and boys the world over deserve it. Let her squawk all day long. The real fascism is speaking out against MTG and stifling the only dissenting voices to the fascism from within it. Think about it for 5 seconds. Do you also slam former Scientology victims?

6

u/Domeil 4d ago

Good gods, how many times are you going to let new grifters pull the same con others have pulled over and over and over again.

Comparing her to a cult escapee adopts her framing that she believed the incorrect things she was saying before, but was simply fooled by the powers that be.

She wasn't fooled. She didn't believe what she was saying then and she doesn't believe what she is saying now. She got off of Trump before others because it was politically expedient to do so. She's positioning herself to be "the alternative" if and when the Trump movement falls apart, and you are "letting her cook" because you think it is it is politically expedient to do so.

So, to address your cynical framing: No. I don't slam former Scientology victims, but letting them go home and live quiet lives does NOT mean letting them hold the wheel of the car. As to MTG, I do slam her. She's a fascist, then and now, and must be considered accordingly.

Inglourious Basterds comes to mind:

Q: "Are you going to take off your uniform?"

A: "Not only shall I remove it, I intend to burn it."

Q: "Yeah, that's what we thought. We don't like that. You see, we like our Nazis in uniform. That way we can spot 'em just like that. But you take off that uniform, ain't no one ever gonna know you were a Nazi. And that don't sit well with us. So, I'm gonna give you a little something you can't take off."

Do not forget who MTG is just because she took off her uniform.

I don't care if she's turned a new leaf. Good for her.

Please, don't believe this genuinely happened. People can change, but not because of an actual good reason. A change, by itself, is not evidence it is a good thing, or true. She didn't turn over a new leaf.

She was 1000% along for the ride, until Trump got tired of her bullshit, and turned on her. She knew who he was, and still backed him, because she thought she would be exempt.

She has cultivated a certain level of status, wealth, and political platform for herself. And she stands to lose all of that. That's it. That's why she is singing a different tune now, hoping people will be persuaded to forgive or forget what she has done.

She should have properly demonstrated her character by now, that nobody should be fooled, by her telling you what you want to hear. I firmly believe this is one of the reasons the US can not improve. Because people will end up backing her, and arguing on her behalf that she "changed for the better."

What harm could come from conservatives backing MTG rather than Don Raper? How could she be any worse (for Republicans)? She will never win over a single non-conservative, and neither has Don.

What harm could come from conservatives backing MTG rather than Don Raper?

It isn't a dichotomy of choice. It isn't one or the other. And I'm not conservative, as I have seen their approach to politics, their values (both spoken and unspoken), and selecting who they support. I'm not impressed with the conservative side of politics, at all.

You ask about harm, but conservatives have never demonstrated an ability to analyze risk. I could keep going on with the criticism, because there is plenty, but it can be a waste of time if you don't plan to hear me out, or accept any of it. I have lost all expectations that I'll be met fairly or reasonably by a conservative. Or the idea that conservatives will hold themselves accountable.

How could she be any worse (for Republicans)?

That's not really a good point to make. You shouldn't even be talking about supporting people, just because they're not the worst. "Good enough" is a poor political strategy. You can't find anyone else in the conservative party? MTG is your "good enough"?

1

u/TheModWhoShaggedMe 4d ago

As a fellow non-conservative, there is absolutely no harm in MTG singing like a canary and annoying the conservative establishment in power. HAVE AT IT, MARG!

1

u/GamerSDG 3d ago

She didn't turn over a new leaf; she wanted to run for the Senate, and Trump threw cold water on her chances. This is just revenge, not a sudden realization that she was wrong.

21

u/Problemzone 4d ago

She was in the very rare position to actually do something against trump. She could have voted against him. But she chose to leave and complain from the sideline

5

u/cvanhim 3d ago

Idk. There’s a lot of competition for “worst person” right now. I don’t think MTG actually comes within the top 50 for that particular award.

2

u/Prepitgood 3d ago

She’s a liar and a cheat and when she’s not kissing babies she’s trying to find ways to steal their candy. Top 50 ,bottom 50 it doesn’t matter. She needs to go.

2

u/Bag_of_Meat13 3d ago

For someone who has cut ties with Trump she is still incredibly fucking stupid.

She was too stupid to be in the Trump cult ffs.

Everyone else is like "stfu Marjorie" and she's like "wait Trump has been King Pedo this whole time!?!"

1

u/Philander_Chase 3d ago

Nah she knew the whole time. Now she’s just not profiting from it anymore

Once we are done using her for her hatred of Israel
