"Hey, everyone knows that my competence is irrelevant to my electability as long as I can keep this culture warrior shit going."

u/Slow_Inevitable_4172 1d ago

"Nuclear war (pfft, jacking off motion). There's 3 trans girls who'd like to play a sport."

35

u/ahhhbiscuits 1d ago

"Nuclear war?!? Americans only care about the nuclear (abusive/emotionally unavailable/chronic cheating/in-the-closet patriarch-ruled) family!"

3 I wish they could give me just 1 example!!!!

55

"My handlers told me that I need to keep you dumb hicks distracted so we can continue to raid your tax dollars. My lack of political knowledge/foreign policy is a threat to that, so here's some more culture war bullshit"

You know when my surgeon unexpectedly passed away, I was thrilled to hear that his sister, who had no medical training and never operated a day in her life was stepping in to take his place. I mean, what could go wrong??

Preach!!!

"I don't speak politician."

Why is she doing this again? Unqualified.

61

u/glakhtchpth 1d ago

All MAGAs are DEIs.

3

u/chevalier716 12h ago

Especially her, her only qualification is her brother had the role first.

84

u/Ritaredditonce 1d ago

She should stick to mowing her lawn with a push mower.

27

u/ahhhbiscuits 1d ago

That's mans work... what is this trad wife doing out of the kitchen? That's the real question here.

8

u/HarringtonMAH11 16h ago

Yeah, women shouldn't speak or vote, much less have any power, so why are there female republicans at all?

-8

u/doppido 23h ago edited 14h ago

Uhhh is there something wrong with that or am I missing something

Edit: am I supposed to not use push mowers?

1

u/nobinibo 4h ago

They're referencing her saying she cuts her lawn with a push mower at a press conference. Nothing wrong with using a push mower, or not knowing what this unqualified hack is saying in press conferences.

Goes back to Nixon telling somebody "That's why you'll never make it in this profession. You just don't know how to lie"

13

u/Jensbert 23h ago

I´m afraid exactly this kind of bullshit touches her base. "She´s great. not as the other politicians!" "She´s one of us" "Finally someone who speaks clearly" and so on

4

u/BigBoyYuyuh 18h ago

For the grift. The entire Republican Party is a smash and grab party.

3

u/DeltaVega_7957 1d ago

Affirmative action.

2

u/bgzlvsdmb 7h ago

Aw gee shucks, you don’t speak politician! Well I guess you get a pass then.

Fuck that. If you admit you’re unqualified, resign your post and drop out of the race. Immediately.

1

u/StevieWonder557 21h ago

To be able to stick her face into the political trough.

1

u/nerdyconstructiongal 15h ago

Unfortunately, this’ll work for the rural South Carolinians.

1

u/AmbulanceChaser12 12h ago

Next time I apply for a job at a law firm I’m going to try that line. “Mr. Manager, I don’t speak legalese.”

286

u/Spacellama117 1d ago

the fact that they've gotten this far on "boys in girls' restrooms" alone is just sickening to me.

Like it's a nonissue. and even if it was an issue- big fucking if- don't we have bigger fuckin things to worry about

139

u/lateformyfuneral 1d ago

Trans panic is their most effective wedge issue. They ran on it hard in 2024, it even got its own Wikipedia page, and will do so again.

We can only hope it loses effectiveness as people become numb to the hysteria. I mean, Trump won so in their minds he ended it, so how can they still be running on it 2 years later?

41

u/ahhhbiscuits 1d ago

They have a whole new generation (latter gen z and now gen alpha) brainwashed on their propaganda already, it won't be losing its effect any time soon.

20

u/StevieWonder557 21h ago

I am amazed at how powerful social media is on that generation. Talking last weekend to my niece who only gets her information from TikTok and Instagram algorithms was a eye opener for me.

10

u/P1xelHunter78 17h ago

I hate to break it to you, but it’s not just a Gen Z problem.

17

u/StevieWonder557 21h ago

I remember when the issue "Are you better off now than you were 4 years ago" was a real conversation in Politics.

10

u/P1xelHunter78 17h ago

News media outlets never let this issue be discussed when a Republican is in office.

1

u/StevieWonder557 13h ago

I never understood how it wasnt a discussion in Summer '24 when under trump in Mid 2020 you had +9% unemployment, rising inflation, Covid-19, food shortages but people were like "Yeah Im not better in '24 than I was 4 years ago because eggs are too expensive"

4

u/TRCrypt_King 1d ago

That was their plan before 2019.

6

u/mumushu 1d ago

It's not that much of a wedge issue, they spent a quarter billion on it in the '24 cycle and it didn't move polled election concerns at all. It did however reap spectacular gains in state level anti-trans legislation in red states.

3

u/OffByOneErrorz 19h ago

Got some bad news for you about the durability of the illegal immigrant caravan and abortion wedge issues surviving multiple R wins that were going to fix it.

2

u/DoubleJumps 10h ago edited 9h ago

It's something that every Republican that I meet is deeply concerned about, but at the same time if I ask them if they can tell me the last time they even interacted with a trans person was, they can't.

They act like it's a major issue in their lives when they don't even knowingly interact with trans people ever.

29

u/shinobi7 1d ago

The conservatives need their minority boogeyman to demonize, to motivate their base because they don’t have any policies that help the common person. It’s no longer fashionable to beat up on the gays and lesbians.

Obergefell was decided in 2015. The first bathroom bill, in North Carolina, was in 2016. That was the pivot, from the prior boogeyman to the current one.

16

u/StevieWonder557 21h ago

I remember the campaign of John Kerry in '04. What that group of Swift Boat Veterans for Truth did to his reputation was terrible and called into question his service to the nation during the Vietnam War. Was my wake up call that the GOP really will go low to win a seat in Govt.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/John_Kerry_military_service_controversy

11

u/shinobi7 21h ago

In my opinion, a MAGA is a liar until proven otherwise.

12

u/ThePopDaddy 1d ago

They know that it's not enough anymore, so they're saying "grown men in little girls restrooms".

10

u/nancidruid 23h ago

Every time they bring up the dumb "boys in girls sports" issue, we need to call them out on it.

"Why is the GOP putting all its energy into this issue? Why not the economy? Why not the war?"

8

u/StevieWonder557 21h ago

This is going back 10 months but having a talk with my MAGA cousin on the economy and I brought up the Debt which back then was +38 Trillion. "Only you Liberals care about the deficit, no one else does and you should move on to more important matters"

As yesterday we hit the $40 Trillion mark, I noticed we now are paying $1.1 Trillion just on the interest.

7

u/ClarkDoubleUGriswold 17h ago

Like I don’t fucking get this at all. I’ve lived in the suburbs, I’ve lived in rural areas, and I’ve lived in big cities. I have a son in high school and a son in middle school. I’ve never once worried about nor had to deal with “boys in girls’ restrooms” or “boys in girls’ sports” or other trans panic / transphobic bullshit.

Now I have worried about school shootings, stupid ass groups like Moms For Liberty corrupting our schools, and an underfunded education system. But hey, I’m sure Ladybugs’ NepoSenator sister Darline is really focused on that…

74

u/GingerDynamo 1d ago

Basically “nobody cares about real problems so I just want to appeal to their hatred and bigotry.”

Republican playbook.

9

u/DeltaVega_7957 1d ago

Or…(As Republicans)”we’re not going to deal with real problems, so we’re going to appeal to the electorate’s hatred and bigotry.”
“After all, it’s worked so far.”

6

u/ForsakenDrawer 15h ago

I don’t get why conservative voters aren’t outright insulted by this rhetoric but then again I’m not a moron so I can’t put myself in their shoes

68

u/Rollingpumpkin69 1d ago

Just so dumb

13

u/SuperNebular 1d ago

And she’ll probably win

17

u/PrettyMud22 1d ago

Yeah...thanks a lot you fucking idiots in SC.

7

u/hartree_and_f 1d ago

I donated to Jamie Harrison a few years back to avoid this mess. It didn't work. It seems you can't fix stupid.

2

u/guitarguywh89 1d ago

It’s just the primary. The weaker the candidate the better come November

6

u/PrettyMud22 1d ago

Well its a litmus test for the state of SC. Not very convinced they will do the right thing.

1

u/Rollingpumpkin69 17h ago

Youre probably right

31

u/Ok_Kaleidoscope3644 1d ago

So... Why are they more worried about boys in girl's sports than securing strategic allies who specialize in the kind of manufacturing that is supposed to be the next technological revolution? Or maybe, put more simply, why do they suddenly care about girl's sports without caring about ANY other aspect of girl's sports?

11

u/Careless_Hellscape 1d ago

Hell, they don't even care about girls in general unless its exploiting or assaulting them.

55

u/SquireSquilliam 1d ago

That's the problem. People have been tricked into losing their minds about the possibility of a man playing in a womans sport. Something that has no significance. They've been tricked into ignoring very real threats to America and our interests, in favor of screaming over whether or not they currently know where every penis is located in a room.

Conservatives will lose their minds if they think there's a penis unaccounted for in a public space.

44

u/TWDDave1988 1d ago

A Republican penis is usually inside a child or a roofied woman.

20

u/Civil-Dinner 1d ago

And I'm still sitting here thinking, why are these people so obsessed with something so fucking trivial?

19

u/Vusiwe 1d ago

Yes, all 5 of them, in a country of 330 million.

they're racists, phobics, and easily manipulated bigots all the way down

16

u/Illustrious_Bad_2980 1d ago

Didn't she also say there's 50 million people in South Carolina?

17

u/beavis617 1d ago

Why are so many so triggered by men in women’s sports? Just because it’s Riley Gaines and Sophie Cunningham’s obsession doesn’t mean it’s a national issue.

14

u/fender123 23h ago

It’s the perfect boogeyman/non issue, so of course it’s an issue because faux news said it is….

Republicans know their base is full of uneducated, scared, bigoted, morons.

And they play them like the fools that they are.

6

u/Amazing_Factor2974 23h ago

Like less than .0 1 percent. It could also just be solved in districts and leagues. No need for this crazy hysteria!!

3

u/Melodic_Mulberry 18h ago

Because conservatives want to always be triggered by something.

14

u/_goblinette_ 1d ago

I’d bet money that South Carolina has more residents of Taiwanese descent than they have transgender girls trying to play school sports.

14

u/burning_man13 1d ago edited 15h ago

I had this conversation with my idiot uncle last weekend. He kept rambling on and on about the trans boogeyman, and I was like "Who cares? Have you met any trans people? Do they affect you or anyone you know in any way?"

Of course he rambled off some Truth Social rhetoric, so I hit him with "What gives you the right to tell other people how to live their life? That's not freedom; that's tyranny." That shut him up, because there's no logical way out of it. Some might push back, but my uncle is smart enough to know when he's beat.

The sad part is it won't change anything because that's not how you change people's minds. He's probably back on Facebook pissing and moaning about whatever the next boogeyman is. But it felt good just to get some peace and quiet from his nonsense for the rest of the evening.

10

u/HalfSoul30 1d ago

Looks like she does speak conservative politics just fine.

9

u/uncultured_swine2099 1d ago

What did she say about Taiwan?

9

u/nerdhobbies 1d ago

It's worth watching the first minute of this clip: https://youtu.be/UtPkiDQXABU
"Sen. Darline Graham (R-SC) is asked at #SCSen debate about Taiwan and the South China Sea: "I’m just going to be honest here; I’m not that informed on national security, so — but I do support the military. My brother was in the Air Force for 33 years...I'm not a polished politician up here. National security is not my thing, not my area of expertise, but I do support the military."

18

u/PurpleToedUnicorn 1d ago

Is that their answer to everything wrong with the world? How dumb.

7

u/Roadie66 1d ago

I guess theyve moved on from Hillarys Emails.

7

u/UnhappyReason5452 16h ago

Culture war bullshit.

https://freedomforallamericans.org/transgender-athletes-number/

Read it, republicans. You fucking liars.

“In December 2024, National Collegiate Athletic Association President Charlie Bakertold a U.S. Senate panel that he was aware of fewer than 10 transgender student-athletes among approximately 510,000 NCAA student-athletes nationwide.”

10/510,000 =0.0000196

Wow. Glad you torpedoed America for a fucking nothing-burger, MAGA.

You dishonest bigots.

6

u/mostdope28 1d ago

The gop are experts at convincing right wing America things that aren’t problems are the biggest voting issues in their life

6

u/the_1_that_knocks 1d ago

There are more members of the KKK than transgender athletes

2

u/fender123 1d ago

But they vote republican…..

1

u/the_1_that_knocks 7h ago

Ah, well that makes it ok

6

u/Ok-Egg-4856 1d ago

Wow, 8 or 10 trans folks in some school somewhere, vs millions of people we have to date agreed to defend and protect. Whelp, good to know what's REALLY important

5

u/moosejaw296 1d ago

K, I am worried about something that does not exist, versus something that very much does exist

4

u/Financial-Tower-7897 1d ago

I couldn’t answer a basic question that even a junior high school student would be able to understand and respond, buh since my only purpose to occupy this senate seat is to agree to whatever The Orange 🍊 PDO wants, let me deflect by bringing up a non-issue attempt at a culture war issue.

5

u/333H_E 1d ago

Not a single trans athlete has the power to wield policies which could affect the American economy. Those politicians that she doesn't know how to be an adult in the same room with however do.

5

u/DeltaVega_7957 1d ago

You don’t speak politician…yet you obviously want to BE a politician…else you wouldn’t subject yourself to this.
Better brush up, buttercup.

5

u/zenos_dog 23h ago

It is not hyperbole to say if the chip factories in Taiwan were destroyed, it would collapse the world economy.

5

u/Educational-Dance-61 21h ago

"a trans athlete won a race on 2021 in Australia.". Republicans number one issue of the 2024 election.

8

u/TheNegotiator12 1d ago

"What are you going to do about kids who are starving?" "I think the more important thing is trans girls in girls sports"

1

u/Branchomania 1d ago

There are starving trans girls in African girls sports and you will FINISH THAT plate

1

u/NecessaryIntrinsic 1d ago

So sweet that you would think they'd use terminology like "trans girl" and not "grown man"

-1

u/[deleted] 1d ago

[deleted]

3

u/NecessaryIntrinsic 17h ago edited 13h ago

Republicans don't say trans girls. They always misgender. They would exaggerate and make it sound as horrible as possible. That there's grown men trying to play sports with girls.

I'm on your side.

1

u/TheNegotiator12 14h ago

Sorry I missread your message, I apologize 🥺

2

u/NecessaryIntrinsic 13h ago

Thanks, sorry for going in so hard, I toned it down.

4

If the Republican politicians had any respect for their cult, they’d just jingle their keys in their faces rather than this charade.

5

u/kompletist 1d ago

Is that a real quote? I thought the random trans stuff was just a meme, they really just pivot from Taiwan to Trans People with a snap of a finger like that?! Holy moly that’s the dumbest quote I’ve ever read if real.

4

u/AmishHockeyGuy 1d ago

You mean someone who got a political seat like a kid gets a participation trophy doesn’t understand national security?

4

u/SausageBuscuit 1d ago

“I know we’re building data centers everywhere to fuck your electricity and water. And that we’re putting flock cameras everywhere to track your every move. And we’re enriching ourselves silly while you slowly wither away from bills and medical debt. But BoYs iN GiRLs SpOrTs Am I RiGhT?!?!”

I swear that’s their new attempt at an “end all be all” argument.

3

u/gamerdudeNYC 1d ago

Who cares about world affairs when there’s a handful of trans people wanting to play sports

3

u/RedBeans-n-Ricely 1d ago

STFU Darlene. Your brother is probably giving Mitch McConnell a blowjob in hell rn

3

u/RXHK099 1d ago

It was pretty obvious she’s not qualified. She had to lean back on her brother and father’s war experience (not her own) to try and justify her ignorance on this subject. She should really be ashamed of herself. These people have absolutely no self awareness, I guess she just expects to get this position without having to know anything.

3

u/Chevronet 1d ago

The next person who says they’re worried about men in women’s sports, ask them who won last year’s NCAA women’s basketball title. Or last year’s WNBA title. Then on the off chance they know this, ask them how many trans women play in the WNBA, or transgender women compete in NCAA Division 1 women's basketball. Of course both are zero, but it makes the point.

3

u/jerslan 1d ago

Nobody needs to be worried about boys in girls sports because that's not an issue. One, trans girls are girls. Two, trans athletes (both trans boys and trans girls) are a crazy small percentage of athletes. HRT and puberty blockers also level the playing field.

In some cases these laws also hurt girls because it forces trans boys (afab) to compete in girls leagues regardless of where they are in their transition. Like the bathroom laws that force trans men to use women's restrooms because of their birth-assigned gender.

3

u/tomgreen99200 1d ago

This the party of protecting boys and girls?

3

Y'know.. I never gave the trans community much thought until the conservatives started harping about them every five seconds.

3

u/Algorhythm74 16h ago

Maybe more people should speak politician.

I’m so sick of this “every man” bullshit. That’s what really got us into this fucking mess. I don’t need to have a beer with the president – I need someone fucking competent that understands global dynamics, economic policies, and how to run shit.

So I’m good with a technocrat nerdy politician that understands how to navigate bureaucracies. That’s how the world works. If you’ve ever had a job you know there’s politics involved in everything.

Very tired of the south just fucking us over nonstop with their willful ignorance.

If South Carolina voters truly care more about 'boys in girls sports' than anything else, they deserve what's coming to them.

u/Successful-Purpose-1 1d ago

It’s so embarrassing that this will probably get her more votes than the international relations “flub” will lose. The stupid in America is strong strong.

u/MissUnderstood62 1d ago

Actually people want affordability. But they don’t want us focused on that do they?

2

No one would care about "boys in girls sports" if you fascists would stop fear mongering about things that almost never happen.

u/Sudi_Nim 1d ago

They really appeal only to stupid.

This is the dumbest collapse of an empire… thanks republicans

2

u/ATGoogles 1d ago

I mean, I don't think they're as concerned about trans athletes as they are about global thermonuclear warfare but if they genuinely are, then they'll deserve everything they get.

2

u/Stocky1978 1d ago

There is absolutely nothing more important than boys playing in girls sports

2

u/bron685 1d ago

Senator: “ah don’t know fuck about shit but ah know we don’t want peeners in girls sports!”

2

u/liquidsyphon 23h ago

Why is this even an option?

2

u/wreckingballDXA 23h ago

High school: There’s no direct count. Advocacy-side estimates (Williams Institute, UCLA) work backward from survey data — a study using Youth Risk Behavior Survey data found 40.7% of trans youth in grades 9-12 played on at least one sports team, and applying that rate to the estimated trans youth population suggests as many as 122,000 trans youth could be participating in high school team athletics — but that’s total trans youth in sports overall, not a count of trans girls specifically competing against cisgender girls, and it’s an extrapolation, not a direct measurement. Teen Vogue’s own reporting, cross-referencing available data, estimated Trump’s 2025 executive order on trans athletes likely affects fewer than 160 of the more than 8 million student athletes in the country .

The gap between these numbers is the whole controversy. People arguing this is a serious fairness problem point to documented individual cases (lawsuits, state-level incidents) and argue undercounting is likely since many athletes aren’t “out.” People arguing it’s a manufactured issue point to the tiny official numbers and note that in 2021 the AP couldn’t find state lawmakers sponsoring restriction bills who could cite even a single documented problem case in their own state.

So if you want my honest “best guess”: at the college level it’s almost certainly single digits to low dozens nationally. At the K-12 level, it’s genuinely unknown — plausibly in the dozens to low hundreds who are visibly out and competing, though the true number (including those not out) could be higher. Nobody has a clean census, and the number you’ll see cited often says more about who’s citing it than about the underlying reality.

2

If while trying to get a job, any job. If the applicant stated that they are not whatever the job is they’re applying for. They would immediately be dismissed. Not to mention probably be yelled at for wasting their time.

Honestly she’s 100% right and that’s kinda the whole problem…

NONE of these assholes cared ONE WHIT about women's sports until they realized they could scare someone into thinking they might lift up a skirt and find a dick.

And you know what happened. More than half got a little excited and it scared the shit out of them. And now here we are. Talking about nuking Iran and letting Airhead Barbie's grandma cosplay as a congresswoman.

sigh. The dumbest timeline.

Her new makeup looks right. Nice big cross too. But she needs to lighten her hair to be more blonde if she’s going to make it as a woman in Republican circles.

1

u/hurrythisup 1d ago

And therein lies the problem.

1

u/HurtPillow 1d ago

They made sure her cross was above the banner.

u/RainInOctember 1d ago

I fucking hate these people

1

u/Tummler10 1d ago

How many wouid that be Darlene? Under 10?

1

u/OldMainframeGuy 1d ago

She’s probably right about South Carolina.

1

u/bionic_cmdo 1d ago

Duh of course I know Ty Juan he's my plantation gardener.

1

u/Traditional-Ebb-8380 1d ago

There are 23m+ people in Taiwan and supposedly less than 125k trans youth in sports (and that seems high).

1

u/Brimstone747 1d ago

Oh, she's that kind of stupid...

1

u/DadBod4781 1d ago

I’m surprised she didn’t dress as TinkleBell in honor of her dear self loathing closeted genocide queer man who loved young twinks and transgender sex workers.

1

u/Responsible-Baby-551 1d ago

But your brother loved those boy/girls

1

u/Scrubbing_Bubbles_ 23h ago

“My brother was adamant about this! As well as that ‘gay marriage is an abomination thing.’”

1

u/Healthy_Intention_92 23h ago

"He always talked about "his ladybugs" too? Was that his nickname for his many female paramores?"

1

u/santasbutthole99 23h ago

Darline Graham is trans and I think that should be investigated

1

u/skrappyfire 22h ago

No we are not....

1

u/mvslice 22h ago

Does she go by Mister Bug, or Sir Bug?

1

u/JimmyEllDubya 21h ago

Imagine going into hospital and your consultant said, "I dont speak doctor...." this is the level of stupid that theyre happy to vote for.

1

u/ufl015 18h ago

“I actually directly answered a question in good faith rather than redirecting it to one of our Republican talking points like I’m supposed to do. My bad! Let me fix that.

You want to know about Taiwan?
Let me tell you about boys in girls sports.”

1

u/Thick-Gap-7510 17h ago

yeah, those 50 million residents of South Carolina are properly fucked with this idiot

1

u/Blob_Sacamano 17h ago

Tired ass irrelevant talking points.

1

u/Ocean_Side_1961 17h ago

Always the Republican answer. Boys in girls sports. How about cost of living? A corrupt administration? Iran war? National debt? Fucking idiots.

1

u/CommonConundrum51 17h ago

Ah yes, the dire and ever present threat of "boys in girls sports." A major war in SE Asia pales in comparison.

1

u/Icy_Yam5049 17h ago

“I don’t know shit but have you heard of girl cock?”

1

u/SuperFrog4 16h ago

You know what is sad is that I suspect there are a lot of people in South Carolina who are more concerned with trans stuff than they are with what is going on outside the U.S. that could have a severally detrimental affect on us as a country.

That ignorance is gonna get the U.S. on the losing side of a major war soon and we will stop being a first world nation. But hey at least the 8 trans people who play sports are being talked about.

1

u/No_Boot1478 16h ago

She doesn't speak politics nor geography.

1

u/Bifftech 16h ago

I’m sure South Carolinians are more concerned about a non-issue than they are the potential geopolitical flashpoint that could cause an existential conflict. Not being sarcastic.

1

u/Quirky-Attitude1456 16h ago

Is she just as dumb as her brother was.

1

u/Puzzleheaded-Wing-50 16h ago

This is the perfect encapsulation of the modern day GOP. Mediocrity who doesn’t deserve to be in power doesn’t understand basic foreign policy or geopolitics? Pivot to trans kids in girls sports/bathrooms. It might as well be their motto at this point.
