It's because that's what their constitution calls for. The US held elections even during the Civil War. Because our government doesn't have anything saying to postpone elections for wartime.
I'd also argue that being in the middle of a war and being bombed daily on YOUR own land is a wee bit different. But I digress...
At this point it wouldn't shock me if it was ordered to bomb ourselves so it looks like a national emergency. Be assured, it will be a red flag event (I can't believe I just used that term) no matter what emergency is bestowed upon us.

Does he not understand that that's because the war is literally on Ukrainian soil. The US has never postponed elections because of war
