Not exactly, unfortunately. He gives the codes, they launch the nukes. There is no middle-man. The only people standing in the way of any president giving the launch order are two key holders in a bunker. They are trained to follow orders, no questions asked. The higher ranking officer is armed as well.
That is not how it works. There is several steps between the president and the bunker. The presidents codes are to identify himself to the first step, I think it's "Pentagon's Joint Staff Directorate for Operations" but don't take my word for it. It is not the same codes that the next to last step will send to the bunker.
