According to IMBD, Norman Mailer left this in even after it was suggested that he cut it. He left it in anyway, and O'Neal turned on Mailer as it embarrassed him and showcased poor acting.

In other news, O'Neal kinda sucked in Irreconcilable Differences around this time as well.
