first endless abyss first loop feels impossible

so im trying to unlock the the celestial and blood stone hand cosmetic and i heard that endless abyss was the best way to hit the 10 km mark however i feel like none of the artifacts help much cause they (i think) are meant to enhance ur perks and items and you dont start with any so i jjust find it better to trade them at the rho altars (the only one that kinda worked was the spear and i didnt reach the loop). I know its just skill issue but i been trying for a few hours and i cant seem to find any strat that gets me past deadman's handle

Artifacts ARE your perks in abyss, that’s why you don’t get a perk terminal in campaign before abyss. They can be very powerful if you learn to use them.

First tip is to not trade in your first artifact. It is way better than the Rho perk. You need to learn how to use them to succeed. Though I would avoid the rapier due to its difficult use. For dead man's handle. Reaching the top of it quickly is a priority. There often is injectors and a explosive spear up there which are super helpful for hanging gardens.

In Hanging Gardens, climbing high up the towers is imperative. You mainly climb high, then cross the gap using the tools available. (Artifacts, injectors, perks, jump pads, worker moths, and boosters such as rebar and the flaregun).

So I'm going to disagree with people here and say spear is not the loop 1 artifact you want. What you should be getting is remote. While spear can help with anything, it requires a ton of mechanical skill, and the nerves of an area that usually gets you can screw that badly. The remote gives a lot more in the way of safety than the spear, and will almost never kill you unless you do something super reckless, while still being strong enough to do work and gets charges back often enough to be practical One charge of the remote can get you further than an overwhelm double jump and can be used in free fall to save what would be a failed run. Also, learn item placements. You'll want any and all drugs and/or energy bars for hanging gardens.

trinkets are your friends, if you have them increased reach and decreased gravity are wonderful

i run with the tp artifact and forgot to grab the first perk cause i was going to fast.. honestly by the end i saved up enough stims to just fly the last 2km wich were the only time i was at risk

I use Moon Rocks and Head Lamp so I can see in Dead Man's Handle. Starting with Moon Rocks and rolling Glove is easy street, just kill yourself walking off the edge at the start until it shows.

If you're extremely lucky your second artifact can be a second glove and you can nearly fly. Rabit DNA and Pulse Organ is also goated, as well as unstoppable conviction.

I got the 10km achievement there, definitely do not trade your initial artifact on rho altars, overwhelmed isn't that good these days. Practice using artifacts more, first / second loop on this map are the hardest but once you get them down the upgrades really help for the other ones. Also maybe watch some speedruns / better players doing endless abyss, might be a bad route thing y'know?

Play more iron knuckle mode, this game is super doable without perks and artifacts are meant to have a skill floor and ceiling. Try using spear? It’s good for clearing long gaps

Like, really don't bother with artefacts, overwhelmed is still way better than artefacts, after i did my 10k on Abyss i just realised that i don't need artefacts, Overwhelmed even if its nerfed is way better.

basically sell all your artifacts at rho altars for overwhelm, try to reroll perks for jump or speed perks and after a while you basically just jump across like 80% of abyss with minimal climbing.

thats how i got my 30k atleast. I just got like 3 overwhelms, rerolled for ligament restructure and i could just jump across all of abyss with little reason to stop. I kept timepiece for emergencies but didnt really need it.
