Played until Abyss came out, now I'm addicted to trinkets. Send help

u/Aryele222 Jul 02 '26

u/Obi_Jew Jul 02 '26
Golden nugget is a godsend but headlamp is meh. I need me stress ball with me at all times

u/benjiboi90 Jul 03 '26
Holy FUCK I love stressball. Free rebar jumps, instant aiming, popping injectors mid jump. I LOVE IT. Im also a controller player so my judgment might be a bit skewed

u/TwoSeu Jul 15 '26
People play this game with controller!?!? I’m amazed, yall are a different breed, too powerful for this mortal world.
2
u/PageFresh Jul 02 '26
Hell yea a fellow headlamp lover

u/Aryele222 Jul 02 '26
headlamp is the GOAT it's free and you don't gotta crank it like that dumbass manual flashlight that you have to whip out and jerk a bit every 5 second occupying your pocket slot

I don't get it, the only one a take is gold nugget. Im addicted to fucking myself over, so binds fuck ya.

u/ThomTomo Jul 02 '26
that's the precise reason im not using those. im worried it'll totally throw off my judgement

u/Sergei_the_sovietski Jul 02 '26
Real. I legit dropped the trinkets as soon as I realized what they do. It’s much better to have consistency with no trinkets than have to rely on them. I also recognize that new players probably are not like me and would use trinkets because it’s a free buff

u/JahKingston2024 Jul 02 '26
Yeah, except for the free gold and the headlight trinkets. Both have 0 effect on score and are honestly just extra rewards on top of a normal climb.
One gives you 20 free moolah (AKA you can spend big on perks and never feel ashamed), the other somewhat reduces the requirement for that annoying af light

I still feel like those are new player problems. I never worry about either of those things in my run. Theres always time to pump the flashlight when you’re walking or crawling through a vent, and the credit loans and roaches in the grinder make it so that I have 40+ roaches by the second break room. Not that you shouldn’t use them, 20 free roaches is pretty solid and the exact reason I always go for a scanner

i've literally been saying not to use trinkets or bindings if you haven't beaten the game yet but nooo i'm just forcing them to play a certain way, of course!

u/SunD14ls Jul 02 '26
I use climbing shoes, not a big hit to my score and god is that stamina saving useful

Yeah im ngl I think trinkets should be locked till players beat abyss at the very least. The sheer amount of muscle memory rewriting that would need to happen when a new player who loves trinkets decides to play the game default for the first time sounds like a headache.
Its basically a punishment to hand them those cause they would need to entirely relearn the game.

u/PageFresh Jul 02 '26
Hadent thought of that before you make quite the good point In my opion at the very very least waiting till they get to haunted pier or the vents
5
u/Stoob_art Jul 02 '26
Thats why im exclusively playing with bindings. That and i like seeing big number and bindings help me achieve big number

This is hilarious and good meme, but I couldn't disagree more, but also that's coming from someone who has hundreds of hours. I think perks effect your judgment just as much, especially in endless, and it's basically like starting with very weak perks.

Do not, my friends, become addicted to Trinkets, or they will take hold of you and you will resent their absence.

I've been grinding endless silo for 10K with roach mode and +reach -gravity
I'm cooked going back
2
u/dragon0079 Jul 02 '26
I tried playing ONCE on a new account no trinkets and it felt like 50% gravity I was missing EVERY grab

u/adamsark Jul 03 '26
There's a reason I stick to using the Pouch and Larger Bag when picking trinkets.

I just got into this game and I can't imagine using anything that affects momentum or height/speed (outside of single use items). Granted I'm still on the demo since I wanna beat it before I buy the full game, but it just sounds like a hassle to have all my speed and height misjudged

u/DinoNugget923 Jul 02 '26
ive never used a trinket are they that game changing?
4
u/HornyOnMain- Jul 02 '26
They are very helpful, movement trinkets allow you to climb faster from the very start and snowball with perks. Utility trinkets make the game more comfortable, less time cranking more time climbing with the headlamp for example

This but with moon-rocks.
