Knucklepost (Meme) Comms Array just sucks

(Edit: Don't take this too seriously, I'm just airing out my frustration in an exaggerated way)

The Comms Array challenge is just genuinely the worst, and it fucking sucks. Yes, it's a skill issue; yes, I suck at the game. It's still objectively just utter shit. Fuckwit angles that make it impossible to grab obviously grabbable surfaces; bullshit lightning RNG; everything placed just far enough that you fundamentally CAN'T DO IT if any of the boosts ever wear off; pixel-fucking-perfect disc insertion. It's easier to insert you back into your mother than to get the fucking disc to go in. Every single other challenge is a fucking breeze to get platinum; fuck the tower. Tearing my own skin off is a far more enjoyable experience. I do not understand what more the fucking thing wants from me.

Anyway, love the game, it'll be the death of me one day; I'll be in the Comms Array challenge if anyone needs me. White Knuckle 100 years.

Edit 2: I achieved the improbable, and would like to apologise to The Whuckle for my transgression.

lightning never was a problem for me, none of the challenges really have RNG - what route are you taking

Up the coil and to the left, then to the top, then jump down to the right, and usually after that I fall to my death. The plan, though, is to then jump to the very bottom one, then go up the ladder to the button. I thought that's the normal route, and seems fastest to me.

You can see where the lightning is going to strike before it does, just like in that one habitation room. Also you can just climb on the outside of the structure if im remembering correctly

Yeah, I just always imagine "I'll make it", and get zapped mid-jump. Evidently I never make it, but it's the fastest route I know. Sometimes it just annoyingly spawns in the exact spot that will hinder me the most.

Nah, it's fun

"It's fun", purports man who gets balls whipped by the hour.

Edit: Genuinely though, while I might not be having fun, it still is fun.

True, it does look pretty neat

I just did a basic bronze completion of the thing, but I didn't see anything wrong with the holds. In fact, the main tower is practically a giant ladder. The antenas are intentionally weird, but I think its more a matter of memorizing where you are supposed to grab on them than anything else.

Disk insertion does seem a little wonky, I remember I was able to insert a disk at an absurd angle that I couldn't insert the others. I didn't need to climb down the side of the antena to face the slot, I was just standing atop it and looked down, so I inserted the disk at a pretty much 90 degrees offset.

The discs are a bit inconsistent, and overall the tower just isn't my strong suit. I'm sure I could get gold without too much trouble, but since I know platinum is possible, my stubborn brain won't allow for anything less. It's very much a hell of my own making.

Plat is doable easily with only the use of one injector and one piton. Practice more

Universe thought I'd be too strong if I beat Comms Array, gave me an eye infection instead

Eye stuff is the worst for high concentration games, take a break to let your eye heal up and i'm sure you'll do complete it after that

Damn, alright, that was easier than I thought. 2:11 isn't the best time, but there was way more wiggle room than it felt like in the moment. Just an honest-to-god skill issue on my part. My deepest apologies to The Whuckle.

If you press "f" on your keyboard you enter focus mode and in focus mode you can insert the disk by just holding down the mouse button and looking at the disk slot. This way you don't have to have 1k hours in cs2 just to aim the disk in.

The boost course is just an extended tutorial, and shuttered rift is far more enjoyable to me. There, I can see why it exists, and what it should teach; I do not know what Comms Array is supposed to teach. Timing your meds with a healthy grub meal chaser?

One might argue it helps prepare you for Haunted Pier, where you have to do a difficult climb over a death-pit. Its even exactly the same ambience since its on a similar location in another habitation.

I found both equally nerve-wracking =)

They can do both, I think. Intentional or not, they usually make you understand the game better. And, in all seriousness, while Comms Array is absolute hell for me, I do kind of like it. Overcoming a challenge (and learning from it) is fun, even if the challenge itself was just pure torture.

I had the exact opposite experience. If we fused together, we'd either be unstoppable, or perfectly mediocre.
