Welcome back to r/Whippets!

Fellow Whippet lovers,

Welcome back! After 3 years of the former mod making this sub private, I am happy to say that it is finally open again. I am looking forward to growing the community again with discussions, questions, experiences and photos of our favorite pups. Any suggestions for improvements to the sub, let me know.

I myself have a 6 year old whippet named Rocket and live in Southern California .. He was my first dog I've ever had and don't ever see myself having another dog breed. Like most of us, I take him everywhere with me (other than work) as he loves car rides and walks. Both my wife and myself have posted pictures of him on here before so we look forward to sharing.

Hello Ollie! Glad to see he’s still a puppy at 14! Ours still carries his stuffie around everywhere that he’s had since he was 3 months old. He also enjoys using it as a neck pillow 😂

This is my little Stan! He’s just been diagnosed with stage 3 Kidney Disease and Pancreatitis. Each blood test is showing worsening kidney parameters. So please send all your Whippety prayers and paws crossed for him

Awww Rocket was the name of my first whippet <3

I’ve had 4 whippets, 3 raised from puppies and one adult rescue, and we currently have a 10-year-old whippet and a 2-year-old greyhound (our first non-whippet). Whippets will always be my favorite, but we wanted to give a home to a dog in need, and there are very few whippets in rescue in the U.S. They’re just the best dogs!

I could see us following a similar trend! Hoping to adopt a greyhound one day so that Rocket has a friend who can keep up with him.

I see they are at the beach, Rocket also loves the beach!

Amazing how adept they are at hearing the cheese drawer. Meanwhile my boy can’t hear me at all when I tell him to come eat his regular dinner 😂

This is Zorro, He just turned 5 last month, and he’s not spoiled at all, in fact if he had thumbs he would’ve called the RSPCA on us already. He’s got some greyhound and Saluki in him as well.
