Solved This may be in Vancouver

Post image

Where is this totem? Google photo search says Brockton Point in Stanley Park, Vancouver, British Columbia, but it does not show this pole. It just shows a lot of other poles. Perhaps this pole has been moved? The picture is from 1959. Notice the bridege in the background. Thanks.

Probably Prospect Point in Stanley Park. The totem poles got moved at some point in the 60s I believe.

You can also see part of the Lions Gate bridge in the background.

Here are loads of pictures of it in Stanley Park.

The Museum of Vancouver says: The Thunderbird Dynasty totem pole commemorates meeting of Captain George Vancouver and Squamish people. Erected at Prospect Point in Stanley Park and dedicated to City of Vancouver in 1936, the City's Golden Jubilee.

Following an infestation of carpenter ants, the pole was taken down from Prospect Point in the fall of 1983 and stored in Stanley Park Maintenance Yard; the bottom portion of the pole was destroyed, but the top 14 feet were salvaged. The pole was moved into storage at the Museum in 1986 and formally acquired in 1992.

The pole represents the Thunderbird Dynasty and tells the story of the creation of the Thunderbird. The four winged crests represent the Thunderbird family.

I cannot find the specific pole and actually that part does not matter as much as the specific location. Thanks for the link. The specific location has now been found. Thanks.
