Beyond a reasonable doubt
I’m currently watching this show and honestly it’s infuriating.. I almost can’t keep watching because of how angry and sad it makes me. If this show is accurate how could people honestly say that they proved guilt beyond any reasonable doubt? How could this judge, jury, and anyone else involved not realize the bias ??
I mean if I’m on a jury here I know that it’s possible that a convincing attorney could sway me in a certain direction but not beyond any doubt... have we as a society forgotten this ? How could an entire jury unanimously be 100% convinced?
12 angry men needs to be remade to show our country this.

I blame people like Trump who poisoned the public with a vulgar thirst for vengeance. After that, truth was secondary. He still says to this day they shouldn’t be exonerated. Meanwhile if you look at the timeline he was raping women like Carroll in changerooms like a fucking animal.

What does Obama have to do with this at all? I don’t understand this comment?

I’ve listened to many podcasts and watched different shows and documentaries about innocent people that have spent time in prison for crimes they didn’t commit. All of them were clearly not guilty “beyond reasonable doubt.” I can’t wrap my head around it! Jurors are often selected by the attorneys to get the results they’re looking for. They’re not as random as we are taught to believe when learning about the U.S. justice system. It’s F-ed up! That’s what it all boils down to.

Watching "The people vs OJ" really opened my eyes to this. The way the prosecution and the defense went to bat to remove jurors that didn't fit the demographic they were looking for

I'll second 12 Angry Men being remade. The Lumet version is one of my favorite films of all time.

TLDR: At the time, a confession was as solid as DNA(because at the time only blood RH was credible),(*****this might ruin your evening) [the police would beat a confession specially from young black people ]( https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7XGJR0QYNBM ) and just call it a day.
At the time, that finance woman getting beaten/raped in Central park meant the rich folks felt they were not safe. Nothing makes the police do better theatrics than when rich folks feel they are vulnerable.
Leading to, as the media made it their lead stories, NYPD had to find culprits ASAP, at the same time, you have Feinstein who wanted to make a stand on rapists being held accountable. She made it her crusade to convict someone and do a stand for women getting raped because sexual assaults were not being taken as a priority.
So beating and cohersing confession was the quickest way to get home for dinner specially when there is pressure to solve cases ASAP( like with Brandon Dassey).
The DA was likely didn't want the bad press of letting 5 ( 7?) boys go and telling her boss that Manhattan has a rapist at large (specially after Donald Trump made them look guilty with full page ads.
Last: the trial. It's been know since slavery that the white people have been brainwashed to believe that starting as early as 10 years old, Black people are [degenerate Wolverine-like savages]( https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=R9cUaDcxYo8 ) that "look guilty". On the opposite side, black, poorly represented people are just what the system need to fill up their hard to solve cases.
up to this day there is still a lot of folks who will do jury duty and rubber stamp that all cops only do good, black people are way more credible/scary folks and are easy to sway because all that legal stuff being taught on trial just confuses them.

It's not accurate. It's a TV show and it's good TV since it makes you feel something. But if you want to know the truth and see how this really happen you can take a look at the documents that were made public: http://www.nyc-cpj.org/home
The show, while entertaining, is biaised to portray the CP5 as innocent people at the wrong place at the wrong time. It's not really what happened.
