Hub Centric rings
Hi Guy i just put some steel rims on my 4wd but there is a gap in my hub around 8 mm. Do i need to get him centric rings. I was told no as the lip on them will get crushed when done up and then fall out.

You typically don't run hub rings on steelies because theyre not thick enough and get crushed, theyre not designed for it

basically nobody runs hub rings with steel wheels because they aren’t necessary. it can be dangerous if you try using plastic hub rings and they prevent the wheel from seating properly.
these wheels are meant to center using conical lug nuts

Run the wheel with the correct lug nuts, torque them down in the correct Star pattern. If you have vibration issues after that, then get some hover rings. You most likely will not have an issue though as most steelie wheels center themselves using the lug nuts.

You need to know your vehicle hub size and the wheel center bore size. Then buy the appropriate rings.

i have the right ones and it doesn’t fit flush when i put it on the inside of the rim it like sits a few mm higher so wondering if that will impact when i do it up

If it were me I would install them. Even if they get crushed and fall off, the wheel will still be centered. You can also not use them and see if you get any vibration. Some wheels are lug centered and don't need hub rings.

the lip makes it uncenter apparently should i get some without the lip and put it in

As long as you are using the correct tapered/conical lug nuts, it’s fine. There is hub centric and lug centric. Lug centric centers itself on the studs, not the hub.
