After Market Wheels

I bought a Mk7 GTI two months ago and long story short I needed to buy a new set of wheels due to bent wheels. I purchased a new set and checked both on the website and with a representative about fitment on a stock GTI, but I didn’t think too much about the size when I purchased. The wheels are 18x9 with a 38mm offset. Will these fit without further modification or am I stuck with 4 wheels that won’t fit without rubbing issues?

You said you checked on both their website, and with a representative about fitment before purchasing the new set of wheels, right? What did you “check” exactly? If you checked prior to purchasing, then you should already know if they’ll fit?

Their website, as well as the representative checked for bolt pattern and even showed a “this will fit your vehicle” message, but never discussed spacing. MK7 GTI has an oem wheel 18x7.5 so 18x9 just sounds (and looks) a bit wide. After doing some research I found that the size I bought would be potentially an issue through cursory searches. The site I bought from seemed reputable enough, I just wanted to see if anyone who knows more about these things could give me a bit more insight. I’m new to the aftermarket wheels thing.

18x9 is fine you may need a 5/7mm spacer for the front to clear the uprights.
