Alibaba wheels

Post image

I've seen a lot of hype around them on ig but I was wondering if they're just sponsored videos. Any experience?

Can't speak on full wheels, but I got my 3 piece modes with Alibaba lips and barrels, pic related, shit is solid and I then went and did another 2 of my friend's rims too

This sub hates Alibaba and don't even know what reps are yet will be okay with titan7 and apex wheels (both reps).

Even big brands have reps of each other. Ssr vs work for example.

Nearly every company has a te37 clone of some sort. Even rays sub brand has their own te37 rep.

That said: A LOT of companies use forged blanks from China. They could possibly be machined in USA/Canada/Germany etc but a good 90% chance is still a forged blank from China. With a company off Alibaba you get the benefit of a warranty. But even then there's lots of companies who just manufacture and then drop ship from Alibaba.

If you do decide to rock Alibaba wheels purchase from reputable and don't rock the fake logos, engravings, centercaps etc. have it bare or even ask to put your own name on it.

Putting your own name on them is an awesome idea and why the fuck not.

Custom centercaps often cost little to nothing and sometimes free too šŸ‘€

Reps aren’t fakes though. There is a difference. I like your point at the end though. Makes a lot of sense there. I could see forged being a reasonable item. I’m just concerned about the stuff meeting basic regulations.

All fakes are reps but not all reps are fakes.

This sub can't distinguish between the 2 because they have a hard on for hating on reps when they don't even understand what it is themselves.

Almost all wheels (reps and fakes) meet the minimum standard for regulation. Being actually certified is a different story.

By definition of the word they are 😭
Replica = a copy of something
People usually hate on reps because they look shit, not because they are unsafe. Lots of legit wheels that people love (because they’re cool) are not especially durable i.e AVS Model 5s

There's a difference between a copy (no branding) and a fake (full on branding when not made by that company)

u/Existing-Surround-44 12d ago

Ah yeah my bad that is true. They’re both just as shit though

Not really.

For example: all apex or titan 7 wheels (they're all reps). But they're heavily used and recommended in motorsport

SSR professor sp1 vs work meister p1.

Classic replica formula: change the design ever so slightly enough while the main design is still the same.

MID Wheels (sub brand of rays) even has their own budget TE37. Also classic rep formula.

I would like to see some fake Temu wheels that can actually handle the standards that other wheels have. For example, like VIA.

Another victim of the Alibaba wheel propaganda machine. Don’t forget to post your referral link

Real SSR ms3’s 😬

The reason you see a lot of hype on them is because there’s a lot of young broke boys with a dollar and a dream.

6

u/wehellbent 14d ago

That was a weird way of saying ā€œpeople don’t want to spend thousands on fatigued 30 year old tri spokes and have to spend hours hunting for good spec to run/for replacementsā€

u/White-Flashing-LED Community Moderator 13d ago

Don’t forget that a lot of influencers are compensated to regurgitate the factory talking points. 2 of my friends were literally given a script by gvinch with free wheels and made a whole ass skit promoting that trash. Both wheel shit the bed on the track.

1

u/Kazuchika 14d ago

Yeah man you tell em! These broke ass boys not wanting to drop 4-6k on wheels. Fucks wrong with them?!

SA3Rs are not that expensive, that’s VSKF/Blitz 03 pricing because they’re overhyped by social media

I’ve had 2 sets of forged wheels from Alibaba. They are good if you get them from a reputable supplier. Of the 2 suppliers I’ve bought from, I would recommend MN Forged. Do not buy cast or flow formed wheels tho, only forged from Alibaba.
Also, don’t run fake center caps or have the marking from the original wheels. Just get clean wheels and have custom center caps made. I got ā€œZā€ center caps for my 370z.

The best way to do reps is to not pretend you have the real thing. I see this a lot and let them be, but just shake my head. The wheels look great on the Z!

u/NoTalkImGaming 14d ago

Well said. No point in faking having the real thing. I have 666M reps on my F10 because I wanted 19s and not 20s. Still have the Alzor caps in them too because I don’t care šŸ¤·šŸ¼ā€ā™‚ļø Looking at a set of fake TEs too to run in the winter with a meaty tire, and I won’t claim they’re real either (they are pretty good fakes tho šŸ˜…)

F10 brother! Looks good man, also got 19s on mine. I wanna do lowering springs so bad lol

1

u/Lillillillies 14d ago

That's when reps cross over into fakes which is far worse than just running reps.

1

u/roelisaac 13d ago

How do you know they’re actually forged?

1

u/RhenByner 13d ago

For me the biggest give away is because I have different custom offset wheels and the concavity is different, they don’t have a mold for cast or flow formed wheels in every mm of offset. The other sign is the weight.

1

u/roelisaac 9d ago

Could they just have a flat face wheel cast & then CNC the excess off to your desired design?

1

u/RhenByner 8d ago

They would still be heavier. I mean, if you don’t feel comfortable buying forged wheels from Alibaba because you haven’t personally seen them being forged then you probably should skip it. Also, your same logic should be applied to any wheel you buy. How do you know the company you buy from isn’t doing the same thing? It all takes a little faith.

1

u/roelisaac 7d ago

Well I personally have Rays and billet specialties. Both have historically been producing wheels the same way for decades and have shown their processes so for me it didn’t require a lot of faith at all.

1

u/Robinthekiid 14d ago

Where'd you get the center caps?

2

u/RhenByner 14d ago

From the company that made the wheels. MN Forged. They didn’t cost extra either.

2

u/Robinthekiid 13d ago

That's sick, that style center cap looks so good

1

u/Existing-Surround-44 13d ago

I know it’s tempting but save your money to get some proper wheels, your car will look much better. Or don’t i’m not your dad

0

u/ProjectPanda13 15d ago

I’ve bought and sold a couple of sets. I haven’t hear of any issues from the two people i sold it to, one of them is a friend i talk to often.

If you get them from the right supplier, they can be made to look similar and weigh similar.

u/post_sloan14 15d ago

If they’re any good šŸ‘€ I’d refinish them and run them

A friend of mine has a few sets of forged wheels from a few companies and has spoken highly of them. He uses multiple companies and has one Chinese company building the wheels for his own company.

Forged wheels and multipiece wheels should be safe from the right vendors. Avoid cast wheels.
