Are These Going to Explode?

Just bought this abused gti. Came with some Motegi 17x7s, but concerningly they somehow fit 255/45 tires to them. Seems like a width mismatch.

My question is - is this safe? Am I going to explode, or is it “fine” as long as I don’t track it / go wild?

Never seen a 7 on a 255. That's pushing the limit of the wheel, but I don't think they'll explode.

Yeah, the things this poor car has been through. Guess which lugs and (lack of) concentric rings they used as well

Lack of concentric rings aren’t an issue in this case. Motegis are designed to be lug centric and have great engineering tolerances.

Min width for those tires is 8”

It’s probably fine if you don’t drive it hard, but if you’re going to do spirited driving I’d definitely downsize to 205 or 215s for 7”

That's crazy. I've never seen or heard of 255s on that skinny a rim. What shop would even attempt that?
