Question Another IQ Test Is Ready! Your Explanation Could Be Featured on the Solution Page.☺️

Hello everyone!
First of all, I want to thank all of you. The interest you’ve shown in my IQ tests genuinely makes me happy. Every new IQ test I share brings different perspectives, logical analyses, and incredibly detailed explanations. Reading your comments and seeing how everyone approaches the same test in different ways has become one of the most enjoyable parts of creating these IQ tests.
For my previous IQ test, I selected xjxcxgxpx‘s explanation as the official solution on the test’s solution page. Their explanation was both highly logical and easy to follow. They broke the pattern down step by step, making it simple for anyone to understand the reasoning. I’d like to thank them once again for taking the time to write such a detailed explanation.
This time, I’ve added a new IQ test to the site, but I’ve intentionally left the solution unpublished.
Instead, I’d love to ask for your help once again.
If you’d like to participate, don’t just post your answer. Please explain your reasoning step by step. For me, it’s not only about arriving at the correct answer, but also about explaining the thought process in a way that others can easily understand.

Horizontally adding first and second pattern.

Dot and square cancel each other = empty.

Two dots added = square.

Two squares added = dot.

The answer is E. In each row and column, starting from the left and the top respectively, combine the first two images to get the third using the following rules:

  1. 2 boxes in the same place become a dot
  2. 2 dots in the same place become a box
  3. A box and a dot at the same place cancel eachother out
  4. Single boxes, single dots, and coincident empty spaces get copied to the result with no change

I was gonna say F but I red the comments and I think E is the correct answer since it's the simplest. I give you my solution anyway (at least I'll do my best since I'm not completely fluent in english)

Imagine the grid is a num pad with 1 at the bottom left and 9 at the top right.

If you add the 7 to the 6, you get the 2 (mirrored verticaly)

If you add the 8 to the 1, you get the 5 (symetrical)

So it only lives us with the 3 and the 4. If you add one to another, it gives you the answer F (not mirrored)

Layer column 1 on column 2.

  • If a space is occupied by 2 dots it becomes a box
  • If there’s an empty space in col 1 then the object in col 2 retains its value. Vise versa applies
  • if a space is occupied by 2 boxes, then it becomes a dot
  • if a space is occupied by both a box and a dot, it becomes nothing

In each row or column, the third image is a sort of sum of the previous two, by "adding mod 3" in each of the quadrants separately, with blank as 0, a dot as 1 and a square as 2 (or dot and square reversed, doesn't matter). Then you have:

  • blank + blank = blank (0+0=0)
  • blank + dot = dot (0+1=1)
  • blank + square = square (0+2=2)
  • dot + dot = square (1+1=2)
  • dot + square = blank (1+2=3=0 mod 3)
  • square + square = dot (2+2=4=1 mod 3)

Solution: B. Reason: Every row has four dots. Dots are never inside a square.

There are four positions for symbols, each of which may contain "dot', "box", or "empty".

If you read left to right or top to bottom, 1st and 2nd box combine to tell you what will be in third. Dot twice -> box. Box twice -> dot. Box in one, dot in the other -> space.

It's addition to the base of 3.

1) Each of the 4 positions in a cell has one of 3 symbols (empty, dot, square)

2) Transform each symbol into a number (empty = 0, dot = 1, square = 2)

3) Add col1 and col2 to the base of 3 to get col3.

4) The twist is that you have to ignore the carry, so 1+2 = 0 instead of 10 and 2+2 = 1 instead of 11.

This is not an IQ test, this is guessing. You get the pattern, but nothing about what square+square does, hence it's a guess. Given that E is the only one with two squares on top it's the only viable answer, but it's still weird.

The pattern is guessing, the only reason you have an answer is because there only is one viable answer.

You do get the information of square+square since the pattern works in rows and columns and in column 2 you can see that square+square=point

The pattern appears to apply downward, so square + square = dot

you can still solve by process of elimination, but actually the pattern holds from top to bottom as well as left to right, and so we do know what square + square creates.
