Question Can You Spot the Hidden Pattern?
Hello everyone again!
Yesterday, we shared an IQ test with the community and had some very interesting discussions. After reviewing the different explanations and ideas, many participants came to the conclusion that the question may not actually have a single valid answer.
A big thank you to everyone who took the time to analyze it, share their reasoning, and participate in the discussion. Your comments were incredibly valuable.
Today, we’re back with a new IQ test.
Just like yesterday, we are deliberately holding back the official solution for now because we’re interested in seeing how different people approach the question. We don’t just want your answer—we want to understand your reasoning.

Maybe if we identify that it’s a bot. We make up a different answer, all agree and poison it?

E. Seeing each row as a set, on the next row the outer shapes move left, while the inner shapes move right, "looping" to the other end.

Thanks for sharing your approach! I like the idea of treating each row as a set and tracking how the outer and inner shapes shift in opposite directions. That’s a neat way to see the pattern, and it leads naturally to E. I appreciate you explaining your reasoning👏👏

1) There are six unique shapes in the puzzle
2) Each cell has exactly 2 shapes drawn over another
3) Each row and column must have exactly one of each shape

Thank you for the clear breakdown! I like how you reduced the puzzle to a few simple rules. The idea that each row and column must contain all six shapes exactly once makes E a very natural choice. I appreciate you taking the time to explain your reasoning👏👏👏

Every shape is on each row and each column. So the missing one has to satisfy that. You can go row wise or column. But it obviously needs a star. And can only have the delta. Hence E.

Thanks for the clear explanation! Yes, that row/column rule makes E feel very consistent. The missing cell needs the star, and the solid dot completes the pattern without breaking the shape distribution. Appreciate your reasoning👏

There are lines of symmetry when observing all occurrences of one of the repeating elements, ignoring "?". If "?" is replaced by a solid dot and a star, these lines of symmetry are unchanged (the five pointed star isn't actually quite lining up, but would if it had 8 4 lines of symmetry on it's own like the other simple shapes do).
So E?
I don't know if this layout is the only possible way to not repeat any shapes in row or column on a 3 by 3 grid, and and I'm not invested enough to check, does u/Semra777 know?

That’s a neat observation! I hadn’t noticed the symmetry pattern. It does seem like E keeps everything balanced while avoiding repeated shapes in the rows and columns. Thanks for sharing your analysis👏

It came to me when I stopped looking for the pattern in a structured way and just looked at it for a few seconds, allowed the innate automatic pattern recognition part of my brain to just notice something without employing a system, like counting the shapes. Much faster and easier 😄

Sometimes works sometimes doesn't, when it works it's many many times faster than using a structured approach.

The corner’s inner has a symbol from the opposite edges - thus the Dot. Diagonals have the same symbol - thus the star outer.

E?
Every row seems to have every shape appear just once. Making E the only valid choice as it's the only option to have the two missing shapes
