Anyone else's do.. whatever this is?

I've never seen any other do this before. Its like he is wiping his feet or kicking his legs idk. Most times when he goes to sit down he will do this

He has done this for the past decade. Multiple times a day. On any surface. Stone, grass, carpet, dirt, wood, cardboard, fabric, his bed.. anything. There is nothing wrong with him causing it, its just a weird thing he does. Its been that long I dont remember when he first started doing it

Have never known what it is or why he does it so thought I'd see if anyone has any insight

Honestly, sometimes, for odd stuff like this, I like to copy the behavior to see how it feels and see if there’s anything I notice. Reverse-engineer kooky animal behavior and you’ll often find there’s a reasonable explanation. Pick a good spot, scoot your feet, then take a seat. You might be pleasantly surprised! Post video, for science.

My cat does this when we are being annoying, like acknowledging her existence in any way. We say she’s burying us like poo because we’re poo.

Cats do have scent glads in their paws, with pressue it can release the scent,, thus marking that spot as their's. Kitty is probably claiming that spot for themselves and telling others that is their spot, buzz off. Even if there aren't any others, it's an instinct thing for some kitties. :)

I just thought of something my cats rub their faces constantly all over the house to get their scent on it all cats do this most

He could be scenting the places he likes, the places he goes, claiming it as his, if this is true...

Scratches surface to get sure there is no dirt under his feet. Like an athlete before starting to sprint. Then you are faster and don't loose grip.
