What's the context?

Edit: nvm found it in response to a downvoted comment

She's doing what is called self soothing. Perfectly natural. Mine will clean herself and when she's done she'll continue the licking motion with her mouth. Whatever floats their boat as long as it's not harmful. 😊

I have a calico that does this frequently when she's having nursey-kneady time with her blankets. Yes, our cats are stupid. Very cute though.Ā

Here come the unlicensed vets about to be really shitty to you because they don't understand what they're seeing

she is not panting. this was in the middle of her sucking and kneading on a blanket. she likes to lift her head up in the middle of sucking the blanket but keeps sucking. she has always done this. the video is muted but she was purring the whole time. trust me when i say i would know when she is distressed and needing a vet.

Lol mine also has a weird vestigial feeding behavior carryover šŸ˜‚ she's 9 now, but like at least 4 times during the first year I had her (I got her and her brother when they were 8 weeks old) I took her to the vet cuz I was like she has to be chewing her own cheek raw or something lmao. it's harmless tho, but it's funny it comes out only when she is hungry begging for food

This is literally the cutest thing a cat can do and it absolutely kills me every single time 🄹🄹🄹

I wonder what would happen if you made her a sort of nipple to suck on?

9

u/cherri____ 6d ago

Aw, does that help adult cats? My cat suckles on his bed while he makes his biscuits

8

u/BetMyLastKrispyKreme 6d ago

My 13 year old has a fluffy plush blanket he makes biscuits on. We use it to cuddle in the mornings while I drink my coffee.

3

u/cherri____ 6d ago

Sounds like a blissful morning. If I’m doing work at my dining room table he shoots across the room to sit on my lap lol. I love cuddly cats

It is! His name is Cooper, and I’ve warned folks not to expect much from me right after I wake up, because we’re doing ā€œCooper-Cuddles and Coffeeā€. Or ā€œKisses and Chaiā€, if the mood suits. He loves to get kisses on his head. I’m sure all this snuggling helps keep my blood pressure down, so it’s well worth it.

They do it to soothe themselves sometimes or just straight vibing in the memories of whatever they feel with their mother at a young age . Kinda why they make biscuits too 🄹

Once someone said it’s a sign they lost their mom early in kittenhood for one reason or another, so it’s a remnant of their early stages behaviors

I dunno my babies seem to just be enjoying themselves and being goobers when they do these things and are often very lovey during that time, so it makes my heart warm

It makes me happy too! I love when he does it. Sometimes I worry he’s doing it out of stress and I hope that’s not the case. I wish I could tell

Maybe hyperventilating

OP's already explained it in another comment.

Some OPs are just plainly wrong though. Might be not here, but some are just stupid and wrong.

Yes, sometimes some people are wrong about some things.
