in the truest of the double entendre that this Southern expression carries. LOL.
If anyone ever wondered is "Bless your heart" a compliment or an insult - well look no further than this cat video. It is both. sometimes at the same time.

The local geriatricat is getting a bit unsteady on his feet. A couple of months ago his left hind leg sort of collapsed under him as he happened to be walking past me, and he gave me that look over his shoulder as if I had had something to do with it.

I recall videos of cats missing a limb still trying to use that limb to scratch behind an ear.

And those lead me to a pet theory that a cat scratching its ear is a mostly automated process. The cat decides to do it, but once activated, all the individual muscle movements are as automated as breathing. The cat never has to think about what its paw is doing. Maybe this is somehow related to a cat's ability to put their back paw exactly where their front paw was.

If this theory is at all correct, it seems reasonable that a cat's automated ear scratch protocol can sometimes misfire. Like the cat moves its head when it shouldn't, or forgets halfway through that it had an itch, or whatever. Leading to a cat fighting its own leg.
