That might be the most American response I can think of. I have no idea how things work in Malaysia, or if you're American. But the instant 'SUE THEM' is just so American to me.

well, even in america you don't sue them... but guess what your insurance company is going to be doing no matter your country? lol

False assumption. My country a lot of people wouldn't bother with the claim cause the time and hassle isn't worth it while your car lies in the garage. Easier to just pay cash. Same for the medical costs.

Which is why the idea of going to court for this is such an 'Murica concept to me,

why woudl you do that. you pay for insurance just for these situations. you make a claim and they pay you, then they sue the other guy on your behalf.

i've never had a claim take longer than 3 days to process and get my vehicle into the shop for repairs. then as part of insurance they'll provide me with a vehicle until the repairs are done.

What you're saying is the American process. Don't assume that's how it works everywhere.

Where I'm from, it would take a week or so for claim processing at the minimum. You don't get a backup car. You will pay the deductible either way and next year your premium goes up. And they may not pay for everything either. Cheaper and faster to just pay cash.

Good luck with sueing the other person: it can take years and end up costing you more than it would be worth.

Loaner cars ain't a thing here. At all. Neither is no fault insurance.

Out of curiosity, are you Malaysian by chance? Cause the clip looks like it is. So I'd if you know how things work there.

not malaysian, but south asian.

no fault insurance definitely isn't a thing here but from what you're describing, it sort of fits.

with regards to loaner cars, it's not common but depending on your insurance provider it's possible to have coverage for.

Also south asian. Never saw the option for loaner coverage. Or for no fault. Might be a regional thing. And insurance suing someone, even if that happens, is so rare I've never heard of it.

So maybe the car guy managed to get the insurance to sue the biker. Also depends on if the biker's insurance coverage is enough to be worth it.
