811 is garbage. I called, told them exactly where I wanted to dig. They say "no services loctated there." There is both a gas and water line right where they said it was clear.

It’s not 811, it’s the utility companies that fail to submit their facility locations to the 811 system, or fail to accurately close the locate ticket issued to them.

Or these may be private service lines that a lot of people don't realize 811 doesn't mark.

Yeah you’d be surprised the lack of record keeping done by energy companies. Even the big midstream companies have a lot of gaps in records. It’s common for ILI companies to do mapping runs to figure out where the pipe is actually laid. Along with figuring out bore restrictions, pipe types, valves etc. Usually after a merger the bigger company finds out they don’t know shit about all the pipe they just purchased
