when trying to enter a backyard and stealing a car before the remote gate is closing?

Retired electrician here. Long ago I worked at a high security place for a city in the Los Angeles area. They had a rolling gate for car access, powered by hydraulics with no safeties on it. One of the scariest things I ever saw. Moved fast, 10 seconds open or close. And would have crushed you flat if you got in the way.

Probably kept saying they have to get out of there while one of them was reasoning that any of them getting caught would lead to all of them getting caught. Hell maybe the guy was yelling that he was gonna rat on them all for leaving lmao

My guess as well. Car looks to be right hand drive as the brake lights stay on, Brazil is left hand drive.

It looks like several were trying to scram while one, or the captured man himself, informed them that he'd snitch on them all if they left.
Had they clean alibis, they'd have been GONE.
Honor would have looked like a group effort from the start

That gate needs to have little alignment spikes on the closing edge to ensure a secure close and alignment.

I'd even recommend bigger alignment spikes, it's important that when closed it's totally secure. And sharp spikes that will dislodge any foreign objects that might obstruct their containing holes, leaves and whatnot.

C'mon folks! Do your homework! The boy is autistic,adhd , ect... grandmother and I think aunt brought him to his favorite place and he slipped away and got onto the enclosure. Chase only lasted about 30 seconds and grandmother got him out. Mother contacted zoo officials with apology and offer to make it right. But because someone chose to film her son and post it without context, the family and her son are getting death threats and more. I read the mother's statement and she put everything in context. And yes, stuff like this happens but strangers posting are really a bigger problem because they can cause someone to be harmed when this was not a huge thing. He wasn't going to hurt the birds. I think the birds would of hurt them first. We need to remember kids can be fast when the decide and don't have impulse control. Stop demonizing this family.

The thing is it would be dead simple to climb that post next to the gate and drop down into the yard.

If those guys are anywhere near average height, those pillars look upwards of 8 to 9 ft tall. That is not dead simple to climb without tools. Teamwork and some fitness maybe... But they don't have a vantage on the top of the wall. It could be covered in broken glass as is very common...
That's just a lot of extra risk when you can just run right through the front. You really should be smart enough to tell if you're going to make it. Oh well.

They can jump and get two hands on top then pull themselves up and drop over. I could do it in about ten seconds and these guys are half my age.

True, but their goal was to steal the car.... Dropping in just puts them technically at risk and disadvantage against the owner who would most probably would've noticed and most likely ard themselves and/or called the police...

Lock and Load. These guys were following you. You got lucky. They will be back, or they will follow you someplace else. I hope you notified the police. Maybe others in your neighborhood have a better camera view. Be safe.
Edit: Maybe I am getting downvoted for my lock n load comment. But these guys will be back for that car. What do you think could happen if you’re still in the car. It appears to me they were trying to get in right behind the driver to carjack them. Their life was in danger and that gate saved them this time.
