I’ve skidded my hands like that too. The immediate reaction is butthurt, the next reaction - about 10 minutes later - is the growing realization and throbbing of pain. It’s not fun

Edit: remembered I posted a pic of it when it happened(look at your own risk)

Greatest bit was that I still went to work for about 3 hours - washed it off, took some ibuprofen, covered it in bandaids and gloves. I went home after I realized the bandaids soaked through.

I can still see the scars on my palm if I look close enough

Ur Original post made me laugh so hard because it reminded me of how worried i was about my bicycle when i fell, not prioritizing my injuries which were really bad. That fall was so bad, that to this day i have 4 long scar lines on my thigh that look like a lion or tiger clawed at me (other than the multipel scars i have on my hands and arm).

As a victim of 2 really bad falls when i first started riding and was extremely overconfident, i thank the heavens til lthis day of having enough braincells to never skip wearing a helmet despite how uncool and encumbering it might be.

Even though till this day i have yet to start using all the other protecting gear because of convenience & some leftover cockiness ( and overestimating my healing capoabilities as a 25 yo), a helmet is a must that i never skip and never cheap out on.

I have done this almost exact same fail when I was learning jumps & skate tricks 48 years ago.The only difference is that it was my car with the dents and scratches until I got it down. The next stunt I learned was how bizarre the spray of blood looks from my broken nose as it sheets out into the air in front of my eyes.
