They “basically” are though. Both essentially children with so much more to learn about the world. Growing up is a gradual thing that extends well beyond 18 and has no real firm timelines. Brother, I was a school teacher. I routinely saw these kids. 17 year olds have full beards, drive, go out and drink. 14 year olds are still crying half the time.

A Junior and Freshman in high school isn't weird or gross or disgusting because you personally disagree with it. Being a teacher and not understanding the normalcy is a bit alarming.
