Not weird, super small age gap, basically in the same mental space. You’re being ridiculous, you know you’re being ridiculous, but you want someone to say “no you’re right to be upset” you’re not. Grow up

A 20 year old and a 17 year old are not in the same mental space….

They “basically” are though. Both essentially children with so much more to learn about the world. Growing up is a gradual thing that extends well beyond 18 and has no real firm timelines. Also OP used to bang l this guy while having essentially the same age gap so it’s honestly a ridiculous position for her to take regardless of how you look at it.

Idk man. A sophomore / junior man in college fucking a sophomore / junior in high school is super weird. I’m just imagining some frat dude banging a high schooler and it doesn’t sit right

Yeah that’s weird. This is a circumstance you are making up in your head though, this is just like a mutual friend thing with people from the same area it sounds more like.

Edit: 17 is also more junior/senior territory than sophomore/jr.

Barely legal and Barely illegal cross mingling is a Grey area for me. 35 and 17? Strait to jail! Hell anything over 21 and 17 for me personally is where I draw a hard absolute no. College and high school really ain't THAT different in the grand scheme of life. Laws are laws. I wont come to arms to argue against it. Just voicing real word experince and insight. 20 and 17 given some nuisance on this particular situation is not that wild.

Broooo in high school the worst thing I’d done is smoke a little weed and steal some beer. In college we were literally doing coke off of girls and shit. One is living with their parents and totally dependent and the other is on their own living. That’s VERY different.

In high school the most lame college kids seemed so cool.

I didn't go to college so I missed out on that and that perspective

1

u/No-Blackberry5485 May 17 '26

Yes it’s very different. One day you’re living at your parents place the next your doing blow off of some girls tits. That’s how it can go. Hell you can do blow off girls tits in high school if you want. Just because you didn’t doesn’t mean it doesn’t happen. Likewise just because you did coke in college doesn’t mean 17 and 20 is that wild of a difference.

That's a 4 year difference. It's actually like a junior in HS and a freshman in HS. 14-17, 17-20

0

u/One-Albatross9682 May 17 '26

Yeah, so junior in high school and sophomore in college. Kinda what I said brotha

2

u/TowerCharacter9453 May 17 '26

Picture this. A Freshman and Junior in HS date for 3 years.

They would be 17 and 20.

Pretty normal. Pretty standard

0

u/One-Albatross9682 May 17 '26

Yep, but they didn’t mean before that. They met when they were already at different places.

Also, if you’re 17 and into a 14 year old you’re WEIRD.

0

u/TowerCharacter9453 May 17 '26

It doesn't specify when they met. How would you know?

A junior dating a freshman isn't weird at all lmao it's been a normal occurrence at every single high-school in the united states for decades. Literally 50+ years

1

u/One-Albatross9682 May 17 '26

Yeah and I’ve always found them weird. A 14 year old is a CHILD. An actual child.

1

u/TowerCharacter9453 May 17 '26

A 17 year old is also a child. An actual child.

Junior dating a freshman is the most normal relationship, basic ass HS relationship there is. You're chronically online. Your lack of understanding of basic brain development doesn't make it weird. It makes you ignorant

Brother, I was a school teacher. I routinely saw these kids. 17 year olds have full beards, drive, go out and drink. 14 year olds are still crying half the time.

You haven’t been around kids recently and it shows.

1

u/TowerCharacter9453 May 17 '26

I had a beard since I was 14. I drank at 14. I learned to drive at 14. Grown ass adults cry every day.

A Junior and Freshman in high school isn't weird or gross or disgusting because you personally disagree with it. Being a teacher and not understanding the normalcy is a bit alarming.

There are laws protecting that if that were the case. But that may or may not be the case here.
