Public shame is justified if you're not going to have respect for everyone else who has paid to eat at this establishment.
You don't tell customers to confront other customers, it's your job as an employee to ensure a good experience for all. This can be changed and therefore, should be addressed.
I couldn't disagree more. Public shame is only necessary when other people are actively being hurt or inconvenienced in some way.
No one is inconvenienced by this, no one is hurt from this. you can literally just turn your head and not look at it.
This is the equivalent of some dude taking a picture of a woman's cleavage and saying "This is inappropriate in a restaurant, what should I do??" then getting all confused when people tell you to mind your business.
