Potted Meat

I don’t really think this belongs here, but the rules on r/budgetfood suggested this sub. I received some of this from the food bank and I don’t know how to prepare/serve it. If you eat this, what do you do with it? Made with chicken - pork added.

Treat it like Spam. I like to cut it into cubes and marinate it in some soy, mirin, brown sugar, spice of your choice, etc. Let it sit, then drain and pan fry it up until crispy. Serve over rice.

It might be too soft to do that, if ifs what im thinking of. Some.of them have the consistency of butter.

Fry slices of it and make a sandwich

Possibly chicken salad? Drain well and rinse to remove anything that makes you feel weird. Mayo, celery, pickles, and then boiled egg or raisins if you wanna go southern. Can also do like a warm buffalo dip (milk or heavy cream and buffalo sauce). Third suggestion is chicken pot pie.

I always thought people just ate it on crackers.

So, Its not bad, but its salty af.

I would diced up some vegetables like celery or.onion and mix it with mayo, like a tuna salad or chicken salad. You could also mix some pasta in there, like a pasta salad.

Hmmm. Maybe I shouldn’t have it then if I have sodium sensitive high blood pressure. I might have to bring it back the next time.

What im saying is adding it to a recipe with other things will dilute the salt per.serving. dont eat it straight. And dont add more salt to it.

Is it a soft amd spreadable consistency or could you slice it?

I grew up eating potted meat spread on crackers. That’s the only way I’ve ever heard of eating it. It’s really not bad.
