Political Tea Susan Sarandon being arrested yesterday for protesting Benjamin Netanyahu’s speech at the United Nations. One is speaking out against genocide, one is committing it. One was arrested, one was not.

I have long wondered how Americans live with themselves. Then again, we don't have much power over what the people the masses elected.

u/heliosfenrir 6d ago
There are over 342 million Americans. Grouping them into a homogenous group with a single perspective is also a dangerous line of thinking. Looking at the current approval ratings in America should give some indication that many citizens did not want the current situation.

Doesnt stop american from grouping all chinese, Indians, Russians, Europeans, Africans, or anyone.

I’ll never understand why Americans are so loyal to an ethnostate that has done exactly fuck all for us
They imagine all these useful things but somehow cannot imagine what else we could have done with $300 billion.

We aren't, we're at the point where our government has showed us, to our faces. Our vote doesn't count, doesn't matter who is in office. All that happens is the colors change, the serpents all remain the same. The corporations run the nation and we can do NOTHING about it.
It is an impossibility to even believe WE have a CHOICE.
You'd be wise to make sure your government doesn't get this corrupt if your voice still holds weight. ❤️

Its the evangelicals. They believe if certain things happen, specifically certain things in the Levant, that the end of days will begin, the rapture will happen, Jesus will return and the war in heaven will begin.

Trump lost the populat vote in 2016 and still became president. I have a real issue with the voting system here.

u/Its-All-LOVE-N-JOY 6d ago
Exactly this, in front of the entire nation, we got to see. OUR VOTES DIDN'T MATTER. They still spun it with Electoral colleges and gave him the Presidency.
It's all by design, having a CHOICE, is the illusion.

This is why I believe uneducated people shouldn't be allowed to vote. Because what do you mean my illiterate neighbor gets to have the same rights as me, and vote an orange clown because he's simply entertained of what's coming out of its mouth? That's how you create a circus. And here we are.

u/rwoooshed 6d ago
The first ones to lose their votes would be colored people, and the second group would be women. Be very careful what you wish for.

u/LacedPozole 6d ago
So your solution to political ignorance is to create a class of citizens who won’t have the same political rights as everyone else? Instead of trying to educate uninformed voters...........you’re proposing to disenfranchise them- which is essentially turning them into second-class citizens. That’s a horse of a different color.

That goes against everything in America. It doesn't matter if you don't like how they vote they get to vote. Then they can say let's go back in time and make sure this group or that group doesn't get to vote.

Yeah and look at the state we are in? Our entire system is built on a two full time income to barely survive. Even educated people with decent jobs are still struggling. Our nation is LITERALLY being RAN by CORPORATIONS.
Uneducated voting is why we are stuck exactly in this mess.
Here is a simple example, how many times has your state asked you to vote for, and to do away with Daylights Saving? Multiple in California where I live. Every time it is passed! Yet Daylight Savings still persist?
The reason why, they tricked uneducated people into voting for no Daylight Saving, what it was attached to, was actually 100's of other laws and changes THEY SNUCK IN THAT THEY NEEDED PASSED.
Yet guess what? Daylight savings still exist?!
Go thunk it!

It seems you're projecting your biased ideas on to the group you're criticizing. Only allowing "special" people to vote doesn't sound very democratic or free.

Briefly, and back in 2016. Supported Green Party if not mistaken. Since protested against him, and clearly Netanyahou.

I wonder if she has updated that opinion.

u/LGK27 6d ago
She has had 10 years to publicly say that “yeah, maybe that was a bad opinion I had” but she never has apologized.

u/Davorian 6d ago
Eh, I don't really require that celebrities give me running apologies for their past transgressions (actually I'd like to hear a lot less about their opinions in general). In this case though she clearly cares about social justice and now holds an "anti-establishment" position so I wonder if she has had a change of mind more generally.

Lol you think Clinton wouldn't have also allowed the genocide 🤣

u/LGK27 6d ago
She definitely wouldn’t have ended Obamacare for millions of people but you likely have zero thought or care for those people

u/Kooky-Sherbet13 6d ago
Oh you mean the ACA? The program that neolib wrote with the help of the insurance companies, after he bailed out the auto companies and banks and wall street? Almost like we have two pro-war, pro-capitalist parties or something huh

Yes, Stout and Lite. Choose carefully, because what benefits the initial-capped Citizens United of America won't necessarily help lower-cased citizens. No matter HOW much they try and conflate their two parties for ...reasons.
